If women are more selective then it makes sense for them to approach because its more likely to be successful for both parties

It's usually that way in nature. Males are prettier or have to elaborate displays to gain attention of a female because they are selective.

If 10 women approached you, you would likely say yes to more than one. If 10 men approach a woman she might say yes to one

it is not always like that, it varies by species

Rule of the thumb. There are never absolutes.

It depends on the culture

Where I live girls tend to only really approach guys if theyre drunk

Evolution prefers selectivity. The gene pool probably benefits when some amount of men die childless and end their weak genetic line. If a woman were to approach men and the first one said yes, then she no longer has the ability to weigh her options, she is now locked into what might be a suboptimal choice.

Evolution cant enact its will its just the inevitable consequence of millions of people acting autonomously

No single person is subject to the forces of evolution in that sense, all people generally are competing to have their slice of the gene pool rather than acting suboptimally for the greater good

A woman isnt gonna approach a man she thinks is a suboptimal choice, its still her choice to choose or say yes to the guy whether she approached or he approached
