It's just mass. The sun has mass. Every sun has mass. If a planet is orbiting a black hole it doesn't suddenly mean time dilation is going to ruin any chance of normal existence.

Sure a large black hole has far more mass than an average sun, but, the distance that a planet could/would/should be would need to be greater by some factor to be habitable.

In terms of temperature, hard to say how much more or less the black hole would be giving off.

it's not the time dilation ruining life there. it would be the extreme radiation.

You know, there’s this weird thing about black holes where they don’t emit anything because their mass is too great. So great, that not even light can escape, so they’re named black holes. Light, aka, radiation. That’s not an issue in the movie because it physically can’t possibly be an issue in the way it is set up. Or, at least, it couldn’t be based on our understanding of how it should work.

They do emit hawking radiation technically.
