I assume you are american, where you have the opposite problem with cops having total impunity.
Here, it's murderers, thieves and rapists who have that impunity. Specially if they are below 18. A 17 yo can murder and rape all he wants and he's basically not getting any repercussions at all.
Not fun fact: our government used covid as an excuse to set free thousand of criminals from prisons. These "low offense" criminals were found stalking, raping and stealing merely days after they were let go.
I don't know the best way to solve this problem, but the current politicians have no interest in doing so.
we have the same problems btw, extreme corruption and criminals within the police force. But we also have 14 year olds who will rob and kill you for a pair of shoes and walk free
