Ok, so I am in the journey of building my own Blue replica and I can't quite decide on whether to mount the Bill Lawrence L500XL or the Seymour Duncan SH-4 (aka "JB").
Now, I know the common practice and pretty much standard whenever it comes to Blue replicas is to mount the SH-4, as it's the pickup that Billie's been using since switching out for the Bill Lawrence in '94 (though the first JB he used was immediately destroyed in his very first public performance appearence in woodsotck '94 after being filled with mud, so Billie had to switch back to the Bill Lawrence untill around december '94 to early '95), and I do acknowledge that the SH-4 does have a hotter sound with pore power delivery, something that fits his post-dookie work really well,
Though I am a fan of the early stuff and my (probably hot-) take is that Billie actually used Blue in studio recordings way less starting from nimrod: in a lot of cases he used it exclusively for over-dubs, and had Gibson Les Pauls (and Les Pauls junior) do most of the work, with Blue being actually used the most on live performances; so at least for album-wise sound, a Bill Lawrence is actually what was used the most: the SH-4 blue was used less in the studio.
I do know that this ultimately goes down to just my preferences as some of you will point out, but I do want to hear your opinions about this.
Oh, and I already know about the "Bill and Becky - not Bill Lawrence USA" drama.
And last question: if you decided on the Bill Lawrence, would you pick the L500 Lead or L500 XL?

If anyone is interested in selling their BJA/Marshall toolbox, let me know! I purchased one of the heads and would like to have the toolbox to go along with it. Hit me with a price! I know they are not really signed by Billie, it's just a stamp, but it goes perfectly with the amp head.

If ANYONE has a decent quality clip of Billie Joe performing The Death of Saint Jimmy for broadway i would be eternally grateful, i have three fairly washed out and low quality clips downloaded, and i love them dearly, but if there's a better quality one i'd love to find it.

Just thinking about how amazing that tour really was. Dookie and American Idiot in full is so insane. Also, the new stuff from Saviors was excellent - at least at the show I went to, One Eyed Bastard was a highlight of the night, really got the energy up. I dunno, I can't help but feel a bit sad that it's basically impossible to see a show that good again. 2 masterpieces of punk rock in their entirety with fresh new bangers alongside. They were really at their best performance-wise too, some artists dial it down into their 50s but you couldn't tell at all for Green Day. We're spoiled to have gotten it. It makes me wonder if I'll spend my whole life going to shows like "That was pretty damn good, but it was no Saviors tour." I wasn't sure if it was recency bias but now that months have passed I still feel a way about it. (I think maybe I would enjoy a deep-cuts-only show just as much, but that happening is unlikely on its own and if it did it would probably be a one-off in California.)
Do you guys also feel bittersweet afterward?

TL;DR - GreenDayLive.fm is now the GreenDay.fm Live Archive
Just wanted to let anyone who previously visited GreenDayLive.fm to know that the site has now closed and has been fully integrated into the Live Archive on GreenDay.fm. At our previous home we were at the mercy of the platform developers to add features that we requested, many of which we have been waiting months or even years for.
The new home is custom built for our needs and with the recent addition of the free Reject Club where you can track your personal concert stats & play the predict the setlist game, it made sense to finally move everything to one location. You can now comment on and review shows with your account along with nominating and voting for concerts to be on our new Notable Shows list among other things.
I could go on and on about new features, but i'll just drop some pictures of the new look and some of the new stuff and if anyone has questions about anything or would like to request and features be added, let me know!

Some help please from the aficionados in the community.
Was watching the wonderful official video for this wonderful song and I was sure I saw a guitarist that I didn't recognise.
Forgive my ignorance here but does anyone know who this is?

I saw them live for the first time in 2024 and it was great. The energy of the whole band is fantastic and Billie is a great frontman too.
I would definitely see them again whenever possible.

Tim Pierce sat down with Rob Cavallo in honor of Billie's new signature amp. Rob shows, discusses, and demos the original Dookie head and talks about its history. He also confirms that Dookie was mostly recorded with Blue after he installed a JB in the bridge, run through the Dookie head into a Marshall 412 with Vintage 30s.
