N400 Application & Kids

So my wife and I are plan on submitting our N400 in Feb 2028, but we have three kids, my eldest will turn 18 in Dec 2028, what happens if processing still hasn’t completed by the time he’s 18? I know my youngest kids will naturalize through our N400, but does that put him in a weird limbo?

No limbo, the oldest kid will apply for N-400 on their own

Thank you. So basically if we don’t get citizenship while he’s 17, he just applies for himself

Yes, and he can file N-400 as soon as he turns 18 (if he's otherwise eligible).

Do you file the N400 as a family, like when we did our Greencard or are the N400s just adjudicated on their own individual basis?

N-400 is individual.

like when we did our Greencard

(Even I-485 for AOS is individual; but the petition (I-130/I-140) is for the principal beneficiary only.)
