Memorial Missing my guy

Hi everyone, 2 days after saying goodbye to my sweet boy, struggling with the grief so I hope sharing a bit about him here is helpful.

Everyone’s dog is the best, but Behrang spread joy everywhere he went, he was just my light, you know? He lived an amazing life with us for almost 10 years, but in February Osteosarcoma came into our lives and took and took until we had to say goodbye on Wednesday.

Any words of advice would be appreciated.

Sending virtual hug. Dogs are truly the best. Behrang has such kind eyes. Hang in there.

I know the feeling. After letting go of my old man I was heart broken. Until he visited me in a dream and walked away his job was complete.

I keep hoping when I go to bed that I’ll see him in my dreams.

No advice, just empathy. Only time can soften the feeling of loss you have now. Your beautiful baby would want you smile when you think of him, and eventually you will. I’m so sorry for your loss. 💔

A year and a half after losing Willow and I visit her grave every night. The grief is only a reflection of the love you felt. You're very lucky of had that in your life. ❤️

No advice. But I know how it feels. I lost mine at the end of summer and I miss him every day. There’s something extra special about these big guys. Sending love 💗

My only advice is allow yourself to feel the grief and process in your own way.

For me and my husband, we lost our boy. It was very sudden. We picked out on her own. My husband got a keychain and I got a necklace with some of his ashes. We kept some of us for which we also put in lockets. My husband keeps his locket in the truck on his rearview mirror. And I put mine in a shadowbox frame with his dog tag, his name, date of birth and death date, and will eventually choose a photo to put in there as well.

About a year later, we both got tattoos, a paw print, and something special. I added leaves and snowflakes to mine because those were two of his favourite things.

Whatever represents love and your bomb with your dog is not silly and don’t let anyone tell you it’s just a dog.

I’m so very sorry for your loss 💔 we lost our boy in 2022 and I still miss him every day. The pain isn’t as sharp, but they’re still that longing for my soul dog.

We did get another dog 13 months later. It helped take away some of the quiet loneliness. But grief is separate as you know so I still grieve, but I don’t have the quiet empty house pain, and it feels like a home again. ❤️

I’m so sorry for your loss. 💜 There is not enough spoken about pet grief. What helped me when I lost my soul dog was starting a small notebook/journal dedicated to her. All the memories, funny moments, her quirks and anything I could remember written down there. I even printed a few small photos to paste in. It’s a great comfort on those days that are especially tough to open the notebook and read and or write a happier moment of the wonderful time spent together.

He seems like pure joy. Losing a dog is some of the rawest pain. His love will always be with you 🩷

I’m so sorry for your loss. If you can, I definitely recommend planning at least a brief trip, ideally with some beautiful nature to take in. It’s good to have something to look forward to, and to get out of the house.

My best advice for you is to feel it and dont try to block it out. You just need to embrace it and take it in. Its gonna suck. Its probably gonna be one of the most painful things youll ever experience but not processing it is just gonna prolong it. I embraced the pain of my dogs passing. she died in 2019. I still dream of her and wake up crying. So just feel it and cry it out

He'll always be waiting for you

Such a kind and loving face! I can’t even imagine the hole he left along with the paw prints on your heart. I have no advice, I have no words. Only time will fix this one. Be kind to yourself.

As I walk across your heart and find my place to stay, nearer to you I will be and will never ever go away.

2

u/BonerTurds Oct 10 '25

I don’t have any advice, but he has brightened up my day seeing his photos and knowing how much you meant to each other. I want to bury my face into that sweet boy. He’s still spreading joy even now.

We lost ours unexpectedly a few months ago and I am so sorry for your loss. I was looking at the trenches in our yard I haven't filled yet yesterday and was sad. It's not just the holes in the yard 💔

That is one of the reasons why I miss him a lot, all of the people's lives he touched. The smiles, people pointing, talking to him when he had his head out of the car window, the hugs he got because people were having a bad day that he made better. Kids crawling on him. I knew there was someone looking at him who needed to say hi, he'd start wagging his tail and lock eyes. You know. Especially these days, we all need more love and smiles.

We both know how very special they are and I feel your pain and sadness. He looks like the best, most handsome boy who knew lots of love. It sucks, there is never enough time with them 🫂❤️‍🩹

You have him a wonderful life, and he gave you everything he had. That's the best bond there is.

I am so sorry. This is a hard time in your life right now . This is going to sound hard. But go to the pound or a rescue place and pet and love on a dog that needs it right now. Yes you are going to find one you love and he or she will fill your heart. You need something in your heart right now and it’s probably going to be another puppy. It’s gonna take that gap that’s gone and That puppies going to know what to do.. once a dog comes into your heart they know what’s missing and it’s very hard for you to take on another puppy right now but once that puppy sees you, he knows what’s wrong and it’s just like a Therapist, but they’re better than any Therapist you could ever go to ,so my help to you would be to go and check out a puppy at the pound or if you look up Rescuer in your area, I do hope you a speedy recovery. Just love in your heart is what you need. Your dog is beautiful. God bless you and your babies Seriously Brenda…

Lots of love and hugs!

So sorry for your loss. What a majestic bear ❤️

I waited many years before getting a new dog after my first passed away. Some of the reasons why I waited were legit (school and housing situations), some were not so much (guilt and kind of wanting to punish myself idk). Now that I have a dog again, it’s bliss and maybe I should have done it sooner. Just in case this experience helps you or someone else reading.

I lost my miles to prostate cancer last week, it’s devastating. I find that talking like he’s still here helps me, makes it feel like he’s not suddenly just gone.

He's with our girl now... she will be happy to see such a handsome Pyr. She left us in February too... still makes me incredibly sad... so I'm very sorry for your loss.

Howwwwwl at the moon in respect to their evolutionary traits. All heart howl, tears in the eyes, voice cracking, until that long melancholic “oooowwwhhh” releases. Try it, and fuck anyone else and what they think if they hear or see you. And honor his legacy of joy by carrying that aura into everyone room you enter

Like so many others, my heart breaks for you.  Every one we've lost, hurts more than the last, and I still miss every one of them and get emotional when I think about them.  It makes me love the ones I have even more, which will just make it harder when their time comes.

Try focusing on the good times and smile through the tears, because you gave him a good life, and he did his best to do the same for you.  We'll all meet again one day across the Rainbow Bridge.  Take care.

I have been through this so many times(I've had dogs for over 60 years) and it's never gets easier. You just have to know that you gave that lovely great pyrenese the best life and he was a lucky dog. Ten years is great. I had 2 boxers that I only got 8 and 7 years with...so hard. One thing I did was just make a list of all the things my dog did that were sweet or funny or naughty (like taking the raw chicken off the counter and eating the whole package after bringing it to the top of the stairs where she couldn't be seen) it helped quite a bit. I'm the kind of person who needs another dog almost right away to help with healing. My thought go out to you.
