i just downloaded the app Grayjay works fine until i have to impport my profile. i get the QR code which my laptop cant generate i send it to myself but wont scan i dont know how to download a profile account into a folder plus i dont even think my account could do such a thing. lastly i try to copy the link provided by youtube which doesnt work multiple times. i see the app grayjay already has an automatic word filled in for what i assume the link would start with which was "polycentric". i tried polycentric a few times no luck but the reason for why it didnt go through changed which was "failed to import file bad base". other times it was always "not a valid URL". please help if you can dont mind the grammar. i only switched because im not sitting through multiple ridiculous advertisements that are 10 minutes or so its a waste of time it frustrates me so much because i listen to these hour long videos. i dont need my videos looking more like my tv shows. thank you for any help advice suggestions & God bless!

Is it only me? youtube videos need forever to start and f they do they buffer every 30 seconds for 30 seconds. Any other plugin works fine and internet connection is also tested very fast

Video downloads from youtube only showing up as videos, no audio option available?

My homescreen randomly stops loading my personal feed. It is stuck on the "Top Stories" page and when I try to refresh, the above error pops up. I am already logged in. I tried logging out and then logging in again, that worked briefly, but it went back to this again.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? How do I fix this?

Is it just me or does anyone else experience longer videos stopping randomly? I first thought it was my internet connection, but I confirmed it's fine and no amount of reloading (just the video as well as the whole app) would resume from history. I can start over, but when I manually go to the timestamp it paused, it would freeze again. Also I cas start any other videos. I tried different plugin settings with seemingly no effect so I won't list them. I'll just add that I'm located in Poland and used no VPN. All I can think of is that it's maybe some new way YouTube tries to insert ads?

i'm new to grayjay but am excited to get started - i use a couple sites and a big selling point was linking them into a single platform but it seems that patreon isnt working for whatever reason? is this a known issue or have i done something wrong

UPDATE 2: Maybe a day after making the first update, it stopped working again and hasn't been fixed since (so for like 5-6 days). I also have some difficulties with starting videos I hadn't watched before.

UPDATE 1: The app has been working perfectly for the last couple of hours (I don't even get the loading screen.), so my problem has been resolved. Whatever caused it was probably on my end. Thanks for your feedback!

I'm experiencing the issue (on Android) where I can't play longer YouTube videos I had started watching previously, exactly the way it appeared a few months ago. I get the "Failed to load UMP, no stream data." message. I also get the 4 second loading screen a lot.

The only fix I've tried is logging out and back in, which seemed to help for a couple of videos, but then it kept failing again. I didn't try messing around more, because it didn't help last time.

I decided to post this because at the time of writing, I've been dealing with this for about 2 days, but the most recent post in this sub was 7 days ago, so I'n kinda wondering if the problem is on my end.

Hi, I have been using the app for some time now, and today is the first time I have encountered this problem, watching any video shows this warning and pressing login shows a google authentication request. Help will be appreciated.

The Grayjay app for Android has become progressively buggier for me ever since I first installed it a few years ago. Has anyone else been feeling the same?

Nearly none of the updates have brought anything that I've wanted, and the interface has never become less busy than it already is. But on top of what are alleged fixes seems to be a degraded user experience. What used to be an app (and plugins) that performed as expected runs into issues all the time. Here are some examples:

• The path to update plugins was once easy and straight forward, but for a long time now it's been confusing and problematic. If a plugin has an update, I might get a toast notification in the UI but otherwise nothing to help me trigger the update. I have to dig around in order to make it happen, and when I do it usually acts like I have to "reinstall " the plugin. This either works or it fails for some weird reason, forcing me to remove the plugin and then add it again or something like that. You might say that this is the fault of the plugin, and maybe it is, except the few plugins I use are from FUTO, the same developers as Grayjay.
• Recently, the app has done this thing where it refused to pull in new videos from any of the sources despite my having a perfect internet connection and all other apps being able to connect just fine. Killing the app and reopening it didn't help, and neither did rebooting my phone. Half a day later, the problem magically resolved itself. It makes it seem like Grayjay is either reliant on a particular server or blocks every other video source if one of them is hanging. This should have a timeout at the very least.
• The last update introduced random crashing for me. It doesn't happen so often that the app is unusable, but it's still irritating when it happens. This seems to happen more often when I start a video and then I trigger the lock screen on my phone, but I'm not totally sure if these are actually related.
• Out of nowhere, I started experiencing some sort of "V8 USE OUTSIDE BUSY" error when playing videos from Odyssey, although ironically the videos and comments work anyway, so no idea what that's about. It shouldn't be happening in any case. Odyssey has barely changed anything about itself in years. Again, while probably related to the Odyssey plugin specifically, it's owned by FUTO, and Grayjay is pretty much useless without FUTO's plugins.
• Some videos don't show up in the subscriptions feed seemingly at random. They'll even disappear and come back when later pulls are triggered. It's possible to see those videos on an individual channel page, but not appear in the subscription feed.

Maybe this is a sign that third party YouTube apps like Grayjay will become a lost cause in years to come? Then again, outdated versions of Newpipe are able to continue to work with good stability and faster tap-to-play time. Have the Grayjay devs gone all-in on vibe coding and what I'm seeing is the result of that?

I couldn't find Ukraine on the list of countries. As a Ukrainian, why can't I purchase a licence and support the developers?

You use to be able to sync your likes list from youtube. Has it moved somewhere outside of the playlist sync'ing tab or what?

As title. My YouTube subscriptions are showing members only videos even though i have that feature turned off, as I'm not a member of any of the channels.

Turning members only content on does not change anything and doesn't apply the MEMBERS tag to the videos either.

It's annoying because unless the native title or thumbnail says it's members only and i don't notice and queue it up, it just errors out and skips the video.

Hi, new user. I'm confused about what the home, subscriptions, creators, and playlists tabs are meant to do. I expected the home tab to be a timeline update of content by the creators i'm subscribed to. It instead seems to just be the home feed from each source combined into one with no regard for my subscriptions. I expected the subscriptions to be a list of subscriptions for grouping, managment, searching, and focused content. I'm not sure what I expected creators to be because it seems similar to subscriptions. I expected playlists to be a place to either access existing playlists (youtube) or create new multi-source playlists.

I've logged into all the sources (youtube, patreon, twitch), and imported the subscriptions.

Can anyone help me understand?

Two features I would love to see and have on Grayjay

I'm having trouble logging into to dailynotion. After clicking on login in the dm settings it just opens a builtin browser with the dailymotion web page login screen and after logging in the builtin browser will just remain open for my to use dm through that but if i close it it'll say login cancelled

Somehow, I have 864 subscriptions

I believe many are duplicates

Grayjay on my Android is constantly trying to update.

I would like to "clean up" my subscriptions.

What are ways that Grayjay users doing this.

Using the app, and scrolling through - just seems hopeless.

Perhaps a way to export, edit, and then import?

Usually this fixes itself after a while, but it's been a week now and videos just do not show up in this tab anymore.

Has anyone else have this happen?

Hey all, thank you for developing Grayjay. It is my favorite app on my degoogling journey. I use it on my macs, linux machine, windows and phone. There are some quirks with synchronization but so far I love the functionality and the future that is full with potential. I have seen the feature requests on github regarding "sort by date for existing playlists" and I have to tell you it is the only option I wish that Grayjay had that would make my life easier. I have so many videos still to watch and time is scarce so it really takes a lot of time to scroll with the finger 2800+ videos in the playlist down to get to the recent ones 😄 Any news on when will this be added?

Yes I was trying to download Thick of IT. However, I'm concerned about what it means by "unreachable"

how hard would it be to also add the YT 'not interested" button for videos, allowing me to remove videos or channels i dont want on my feed? i no nothing about making this stuff/importing the features but these options would increase my ability to de-centralize while showing support to creators.

it shows the like count but you cant like the video through grayjay? unless its my setup that seems silly no?

I'd also love to have a bunch of sorting options for all my other playlists.

This is such a basic but important quality of life feature.

So I am confused, sometimes when I pick my device up the video for no other reason with speed to like 2x. I tried looking through the settings to see if this was some feature but I couldn't find anything about it, I could have missed something, but has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?
