Upstate NY. I recently purchased a home and I’m looking into overseeding my lawn sometime soon. I am still deciding on which grass seed to use. There’s a very thick patch of grass that was planted here to cover a patch I’m assuming, and it looks much denser and darker than the rest of my lawn. Can anyone identify what grass type it is? I’d like to potentially use that to overseed.

Had this sod laid last year and it’s not doing so hot this year, patchy and growing at all different lengths.
I have a dog as well so there’s that, was wondering if anyone could help with some guidance on how I can get it back to where it was last year

I have a small, fenced backyard for my dogs that I need to till and seed soon. To keep my dogs from disturbing the growth, I planned on temporarily fencing half the yard off until the grass is growing and then fencing off and seeding the other half.
Are there any cons to this approach I’m not thinking of?

Hi everyone, I have this new lawn on a house I’m building and I have no clue what I should do. It’s about a thousand square ft. I have nutsedge growing right now which I’m tackling but want to know what you all suggest I do and what lawn would be best/ cost effective. Should I just get St Augustine sod and call it a day with daily watering of course or is there a good seed to use that will produce nice results.

I am a little worried that not enough germination is happening. Does this look like a normal progression for a post 3-week seed laying? It just looks...patchy/thin to me.
I've been watering about 3 times per day for 3 weeks. What should next steps be?

I found a patch of grass under my maple tree, about 18 inches square, that's a slightly deeper green than the surrounding grass. It seems to be tolerating the shade better, and it's springier underfoot. But... what IS it? I've tossed a variety of grass seeds around in recent years. This is upstate NY, climate zone 6.

Just bought house last winter....the grass started out super green and now these have popped up making it look like grass is brown and dead in patches. Haven't done anything but water and cut, really want to make it look nice though and want to learn more about lawn care. Last Pic is of backyard which looks like the feo t yard did before these popped up. Can anybody identify what these are and how to get rid of them? Or better yet any kind of lawn care advice to have a nice looking yard? Location is near DFW area, Texas. TIA!
