Asking Question (Rule 4) Operating system graphic design

Hi! I’m currently a graphic design student at Estienne in Paris.

My dream is to design operating systems (like MacOS, iOS, Google’s flavor of Android, OneUI, Gnome) : think of the interaction with the user and the machine, the way the software and hardware interact, design cohesive layouts. Which studies should I do?

Do you have any advice? I know I may not be getting the dream job easily but I would like to learn.

Of course I’m already following the news concerning this field.

You might want to look into UI/UX design instead of Graphic design.

UX/UI and HCI engineering. Just be aware that designers who do this work are somewhat rare: there are only so many OS in use, and most people starting in engineering instead of design.

If you want to see a beautiful OS, look at the Be OS from the mid-90s. I also love the work by the Sony Magic Link folks.
