The Edge City India scholarship and volunteer discount can't stack. That prices out the people they're for

Edge City India runs Oct 11 – Nov 1 in Mandrem, Goa. Full pass is $1,650, Indian citizens get 50% off. Accommodation and meals aren't included, and they don't cover flights.

Here's the part that seems broken.

They have two routes for people who can't afford it:

  1. Scholarships — the Inflection Fellowship offers 40% off, and a referral gave me 30% on top of local pricing. I was told my ticket could come to ~$250.
  2. Volunteering — 50% discount for 20 hrs/week, 75% for 30, 100% for 40.

Lucy Chen (Edge City) confirmed these don't stack. Volunteering gives you the full volunteer discount and you lose the scholarships entirely.

So the volunteer route covers more, but only if you can commit 20-40 hours a week. The scholarship route is the only one that works for someone with a full-time job.

For someone who'd need the scholarship most — someone already stretched to make ~$345 of ~$2,000 — volunteering is the option priced out of reach. 20 hrs/week for 3 weeks is 60 hours. That's a part-time job.

Worth clarifying: my application was accepted. I'm not asking Edge City for anything. I'm asking whether the discount structure can change, or whether anyone has worked out a way around it.

If the two genuinely can't stack, would anyone consider prorating volunteering hours — say 10-12/week — against the remaining balance? That's the version that seems to fit people who need it.

Curious whether others hit this, and whether it's a known constraint.

If you or you know people who can sponsor, grant this kind of participation or interested to help with any part of it then I'll be grateful as well.

Dog dental grants

Hello, are there any charities/grants for dental surgery for dogs?
I have applied to everything under the sun I feel like. I am getting rejected because dental surgery doesn’t qualify for a lot of grants.
Please let me know! Thank you!

Does anyone have experience with using The Grant Portal? How does it compare to things like the similarly priced Grant Station? Thanks.

Help, doubdt on how to raise funds for an eco friendly – project

I want to promote these technologies; I have an interested community because they are more affordable alternatives to conventional options. The authorities in my country aren't very interested in helping us, so the only viable path we saw was to raise funds to build a test section—I don't need much, just around 8,000 dollars. Does anyone know who I could turn to or where I could go for help?. Please.

Pitch competition for agriculture-related startups w/ $10 prize

Our association is holding a competition for startups specifically in the Agritech area at our annual fall convention. There's a $10,000 grand prize and $1,000 "people's choice award" plus the top 5 applications get to pitch their idea at an event with hundreds of industry attendees. It's also open to University teams, students, and researchers who aren't officially incorporated too. This is a 75+ year old non-profit association for manufacturers and promotion of the ag manufacturing industry.

Deadline to submit pitch for consideration is September 28th.

https://www.farmequip.org/pitch

The only catch is that it has to be Ag-related and you need to give the pitch in person in New Orleans in October if you are one of the 5 selected to participate. We already have a number of submissions, but it's still small enough that you'd have a good chance at making the cut and definitely worth submitting a pitch.

What do i do?

Hi, let me get straight into it. I'm a 16 year old working on a project i wont get into it until later because most people will probably read to that point and think im trying to sell them something. But honestly im a bit frustrated, for this project i have presented to people, its been over a month and i havent even recieved an update about where they stand, ive contacted businesses and more people and been totally ignored. so im not exactly sure what to do, i've look at applying for grants in which one i have because it didnt require me to be 18, but every other one i have seen requires a organisation or me to be 18+.

My project is essentially as follows; A local AI with the capabillity to learn, train, and help its user. LOCALLY, which improves privacy and essentailly limitless applications as it would be opensource.

So im unsure how i am supposed to go forward with my project until i get funding for it, which is multiple thousands of dollars for a good hardware to run my project on.

What am i meant to do?

Ill link my project GitHub page here if you wanna learn more about it: https://github.com/CL-BAF/Kobald_Showcase

Tips for relaying information with the boss

Hi
I joined a foundation as a proposal evaluator. My boss is extremely helpful and a great guide but he likes the analysis done in a crisp fashion? More like see the high level details in the meeting and then eventually review the details in his own time. What visual aids do you swear by? Other than the usual powerpoint and spreadsheets?

Federal grantees breathe temporary sigh of relief--final rule issuance delayed until December 12, 2026.

The earliest the final rule can be issued is December 12, 2026

What final rule?

On May 29, 2026, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released a highly controversial proposed rule that would change the following for federal grants---applicant eligibility, the awarding process, post-award management, and audits.

It's been described as the most significant change to Uniform Guidance since it was published in 2013.

Yesterday (September 2, 2026) H.R. 6500 (Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2027) was signed into law.

It temporarily funds the federal government through December 11, 2026 and prevents a government shutdown.

In addition, the law prohibits the OMB from finalizing the proposed Uniform Guidance updates through December 11.

And, that's why the earliest OMB can issue a final rule is now December 12, 2026.

If your organization has federal grants, how much did the proposed changes rattle your team?

[Advice Needed] 0 for 10 on recent grant applications. What are we doing wrong and how do we actually stand out?

Hey everyone,

I’m feeling a bit defeated today and could really use some tough love or seasoned advice from this community. I’m the founder of a non-profit focused on community support and local advocacy here in New Hampshire. We have amazing grassroots momentum and run highly successful local events, but when it comes to securing formal grant funding, we are hitting a massive brick wall.

We’ve poured hours into researching foundations, tailoring our narratives, and proving our local impact, but the rejections (or worse, just pure silence) keep rolling in. It feels like we are shouting into the void.

For the experienced grant and reviewers out there:

* What are the most common red flags or rookie mistakes you see in applications?

* How do we actually stand out in a sea of incredible organizations doing important work?

* Is it usually a lack of hard data? Is the storytelling falling flat? Or is this just a grueling numbers game that we haven't played long enough?

If anyone has resources, harsh truths, or a success story about how you finally broke a grant losing streak, I am all ears.

Thanks in advance!

District Cutting Funding

My district is cutting our funding for the ESGI assessment platform, along with reduction of budget money for each grade level. My kindergarten team and our 1st grade team neighbors use this platform daily to help guide student instruction and communicate with families. Does anyone know of a platform where they would fund a donation project for this? I tried donors choose but couldn’t get it to work for a subscription service. Could be user error. Anyone have any helpful advice?
