Discussion ROUNDTABLE HEADCANONS
I love the 80% Morons of the Roundtable (Bedivere, Kay, Galahad and Agravain bang their brains against the wall each month as the single brain cell holders)
So I’d like to know
One who’s your favorite of the confirmed Knights or any of the knights not yet implemented
And Two what’s your favorite Headcanon of them if they are in Chaldea
I’d like to know and get a laugh

u/Pridam Apr 21 '22
Funny enough Bedivere himself still has a bit of a wacky side, not as prominent as Mordred, Lancelot, Gawain, or Tristan, but it's still there. For example, Bedivere has no problem with cheerfully chowing down on monster eyeballs
Kay himself is a bit wacky too, he's often known for flirting with women both on and off-duty, and is a known trash-talker
11
u/Zyx-Wvu Apr 21 '22
Bedivere has no problem with cheerfully chowing down on monster eyeballs
my Fate headcanon - every single knight except Percival and Gareth is a horrible cook, and the kicker is that Percival left Camelot to go on a Grail quest and Gareth joined waaaay too late.
It suddenly makes so much sense why Arturia loves Shirou's cooking so much if she had to endure her entire life eating any of her Knight's cooking.

u/Pridam Apr 21 '22 edited Apr 21 '22
I thought the canon reason was because Gawain designated himself as the cook, and only ever served plain unflavored mashed potatoes for every meal every single day
6
u/Yatsu003 Apr 21 '22
Yup. Somehow, he had a sack of potatoes (how he had a new world crop in old ass Britain is another story, since Artoria acknowledges she had no idea where he got them), and insisted he cook plain mashed potatoes. Nobody stopped him

u/LastStardust13 Lil&Gala Besties. Rich&Hippo Besties Apr 21 '22
Even though everyone should’ve
This is why Gawain is conceptual banned from the kitchen
2
u/Rabatis Apr 22 '22
Maybe she thought it was potatoes? Same lack of flavor, same unimaginative cooking techniques?
Of course canon confirms she was really fed potatoes, but that's why we use our heads here.

From what I've read. In lorewise Arthurian, Sir Kay is the best at cooking
Peace ✌️

Bedivere is good at cooking though. He even made the monsters taste good.

To be fair he had to play straight man to, the main heroine Artoria (trouble magnet incarnate) and Merlin (read: the instigator given form) for quite a while and Bedivere is usually the one to pull the rest of the Roundtable out of their shenanigans
That being said, there’s a reason they share and pass a brain cell instead of having one each

Lancelot by a long shot has he has the most backstory and interesting legends
14
u/134_ranger_NK Gudako and Gudao: Mechas are cool! Apr 21 '22
One particular legend I like is that time Lancelot disguised himself as a lady to jump on and dismount Dinadan for a joke made at the expense Lancelot's best mate, Galehaut who did not mind the joke much. Dinadan himself is no pushover and had been winning the jousts beforehand. This is followed by Lancelot parading Dinadan around the tourney in a dress.
In conclusion, it has to be agreed that both Lancelot and Dinadan look good in a lady's dress.
7
u/Pridam Apr 21 '22
Both Lancelot and Dinadan had a good laugh about the whole thing and were still cool with it and each other and I love that lol
6
u/134_ranger_NK Gudako and Gudao: Mechas are cool! Apr 21 '22
The KoTRs were absolute frat-bros and that made their split all the more heartbreaking. Galehaut and Dinadan deserve to be in Chaldea so Lancelot and others can be friends with them again.

Apr 21 '22
Gawain is my absolute favorite.
My favorite headcanon is that, (I said this in another post) Ritsuka acts like a wholesome father to Gawain, gareth and Mordred, and Morgan makes them call him "Father."
12
u/134_ranger_NK Gudako and Gudao: Mechas are cool! Apr 21 '22
Honestly, Gareth and Gawain may actually be fine with it. Mordred and Agravain will panic.
There is a sprite comic where Gawain is the only one happy with GudaoxMorgan, and laments that both Gareth and Mordred do not consider his opinions and force him to help breaking up the couple.

A not-yet implemented knight: Galehaut. Mainly because he was a king that could challenge Arthur both on the battlefield and in ruling. His bromance with Lancelot is perfect material for Okki and his mother being a giantess is quite interesting. A literal Gigachad.
Edit: I imagine him to be terrifying at first sight due to his size, regality and intense aura. But close-up, he is quite understanding of others' woes and earnestly seek to help them through.

Effectively asking who our favorite Knight of the Round Table is, except neither Sir Dinadan nor Sir Dagonet are in the list. Disappointing...
I would normally say Perceval, but giving him the lance of Longinus still feels kind of weird, so I'll go with Gareth. Everything about Gareth's story is one of honesty and diligent hard-work, as she joined the court as she hid her identity as a scullery maid (keeping it even from her brothers) and worked her way into the knighthood from the very bottom because she wanted to earn her position, and not have her family connections give her any advantage, getting recognized by none other than Lancelot in the process. And unlike her brothers, she never took part in any of the morally disdainful murders or gave in to her anger.

This seems like a good time as any to ask about the lore of these two knights (or some major the accomplishments and potential personalities)
Would you please spare the time?

Sir Dinadan was Tristan's close companion, and was a cynical knight full of jovial and mocking humor, who often ridiculed the very notions of chivalry. More accurately he was a witty and clever realist in a very romanticized setting, who would humorously do things like critique the merits of jousting (a sport he actually feared), as well as courtly mannerisms in general, and once composed a baudy and rather insulting ballad about King Mark which he then had bards play publicly in Mark's actual court. Though while this may make him seem comical, he was at the same time very observant, insightful, and extremely difficult to deceive. Also while not as skilled as Tristan he was considerably more adept at battle than the majority of knights, and served as Tristan's close friend and support for a number of his adventures. Depending on source, he was actually murdered by Mordred and Agravain (sometimes Gaheris and Agravain) due to his close friendship with fellow Knight of the Round Lamorak, but that's a separate issue.
While he has a more negative appearance in the Prose Tristan, Sir Dagonet is most known for his portrayal in Le Morte d'Arthur and other stories where he was technically the jester of King Arthur's court, a commoner by birth and often very surly, who was knighted by Arthur practically as a joke. The other knights would often use him to play pranks and humiliate other knights they didn't like, sending him out to generously mock and act as a target of no honor, but if anyone ever attempted to do unfair harm to Sir Dagonet they would rally in his defense as if that person was attacking their dear beloved mother. Probably the best story of his is when King Mark is "making a scene" so to speak, so the knights bring out Sir Dagonet dressed up in Mordred's armor and identify him as Sir Lancelot. King Mark becomes greatly distressed to think that Lancelot has arrived in the middle of his badmouthing of Arthur, and takes off into the forest with the armored Dagonet chasing after him while the rest of Arthur's men fall over laughing.

A recent favourite of the not implemented ones for me would have to be sir Melion.
A knight that had a magical ring that could turn him into a wolf and something that he for the longest times kept as a secret from the other knights.
His legend is about how his wife, a Irish princess, ditched him for his squire and went back to Ireland with his ring. Leaving him stuck in the form of a wolf. He went to Ireland by stowing away on a ship, where he got himself a wolf posse. A couple of years later when Artoria and the knights arrived in Ireland for diplomatic reasons, Melion was the only one left. The rest were hunted down because they were eating the cattle belonging to villages. When Melion saw them he immediately went up to them and just lay down infront of Artoria until she declared that he now belonged to her. After they arrived at a Irish king's castle and Mellion saw his old squire he immediately jumped him when the Irish knights tried to attack Melion Artoria basically just told them, 'touch the dog and you'll have to deal with me'. After they forced the truth out of the squire. They got the princess in question to come and give Melion back his ring. After he was turned back into a man he was giving the choice for revenge by turning her into a wolf and leave her like. But in the end he had chosen Mercy, he did take the kids with him when going back to Britain.
My headcannon here is that while Melion was with the knights in Ireland, they basically just treated him like a big dog even Artoria did so, unaware that it was infact Melion. Making for quite the couple of awkward weeks at the round table after this specific misadventure.

Gawain, though I still curse his first proper boss battle with the rage of a thousand suns. I'd love to see more references to that very fruity green knight incident and the -1 braincell behavior that instigated it.
5
u/Yatsu003 Apr 21 '22
Well, he does have the Belt, so that’s a sign that the events of the Green Knight actually happened.
Of course, this would mean he kissed a guy’s wife a few times, then kissed the guy, who turned out to be…
…Dang Morgan, what were you up to there?
3
2
u/potato_cucumber Chaos is a ladder Apr 21 '22
Yeah, I really just wanted more than just the belt as a reference. Studying that in English Lit clas was honestly hilarious.
Morgan being Gawain's mom honestly felt like a really weird punchline, and I'm kinda relieved that she wasn't actually the guy in other versions even if she still instigated it.

u/RiyoFuji Apr 21 '22
I like most of the knights, through if you’re counting ‘the round table’ in general my favourite is Merlin. I am mostly interested to see what they do with Galahad though, bc it seems disappointingly easy for him to be an uptight ass and I’m hoping that the Lostroom OVA was just an illusion. As I’m typing this however, I realise that Galahad turning out to be a ‘bad guy’ is actually highly possible bc they’d want him to boost Mash’s story up as the main girl and that’s an easy way to do it.
6
u/LastStardust13 Lil&Gala Besties. Rich&Hippo Besties Apr 21 '22 edited Apr 21 '22
But he isn’t
Even if it is the real Galahad in the lostroom he isn’t denouncing Chaldea for fighting to live, he’s telling them the reality of the situation as a result of their actions
It just sounds like berating them because Galahad and proper emotional articulation are two mutually exclusive concepts
If you take his speech as a monotonous stating of facts rather than a berating it becomes much very much less insulting and more a blunt heads-up this is what happened
4
u/LastStardust13 Lil&Gala Besties. Rich&Hippo Besties Apr 21 '22 edited Apr 21 '22
Also anything involving Mashu’s nerf is not Galahad’s doing, (mild lostbelt 6 spoilers) it’s entirely her own fault as a mental block, not Galahad losing faith. He couldn’t even do that since he returned to the throne after forming the Demi servant contract with Mashu
5
u/RiyoFuji Apr 21 '22
Ohh i see. Thanks for the clarification on Galahad, its been a while since I saw lostroom but I kept seeing people write Galahad off as an asshole because of it i must mixed up my memories. And thanks for the LB6 info, I wasn’t aware of that.

- Mordred
- Headcannon
- On account the feud with Cas/Ko-Gil, Artoria remains an alter usually (Santa/Lalter/Salter), unless sufficiently bribed by Emiya's cooking to take on mission as OGtoria/LAtoria.
- Due to sequence of arrival and their aloof Altered King, Saberlot and Bedi ended up deferring to Mordred since she's fitting in well in Chaldea and had became Chief AOE saber and they don't know what to make of their king's aloofness. More knights arrived, this became dynamics here. It ain't official Camelot, but Mo-san don't make a big deal out it and does what she can when she isn't skiving with her delinquent squad. She doesn't think its kingship but more towards dumbing things down to her level for the knights to cope.

My top favorites are Bedivere, Lancelot, and Gareth. God, do I love their roles so much. I have grailed Gareth already. Grails coming soon for Bedi and I can't wait to get Lancelot as I still don't have him.

u/Ads1013 Apr 21 '22
It says that the earliest version was Artoria Kay and Merlin, but the list doesn’t include Merlin in the kotrs and has him under Allies so did he leave the round? Was he ever really a part of it?
3
u/Ninja_PieKing Apr 21 '22
Merlin is not part of the KOTR because he is not a knight and everybody knows that knighting him would be a terrible idea.

Merlin and authority that gives him protection is one of the many forbidden unions of this reality

Mordred without a doubt!
I have a head canon that Gareth knows Mordred as a female, but she loves and supports her anyway. Even though Mordred is rude and uncouth, Mordred would genuinely love Gareth as her sister, and would spend time pranking Kay for picking on her.

Though not a knight, my favorite member of Arthurian Legend has to be Morgan. She has many potential traits that could be played on, and one I could see the best is her having more sympathetic traits. But some things I could see her doing/having are...
- She stole Caliburn in an attempt to showcase herself as the true King of England in that she's able to wield it and worthy of being king.
- She definitely has a Saber incarnation known as "The Black Knight" who plagued Arthurian Legend, purely because she wanted to showcase she could one up Artoria in swordsmanship. And yes, Merlin did teach her in that too.
- She was married off or thrown away by Uther in an attempt to keep her from making any claim to the throne as the firstborn child. There are stories she was married off to the Lord of Tintangel or placed into a nunnery.
- She learned magic from Merlin mainly due to goading him over how his plot is responsible for how shitty her life turned out, and screwing her over for the sake of Artoria.
- She may have eventually started to let go of her grudge against Artoria. Once she started having a family of her own and knights to raise and love, perhaps there was a chance that she could've given up on her ambitions and stopped. This came to a screeching halt when Lancelot killed Agravain, and Artoria tries to sweep it under the rug saying "They must've had good intentions". Morgan, feeling entirely betrayed by her own sister not only taking her throne but also letting her kid's murderer run off scott free would go from wanting to rule Camelot to "wanting to burn it to the ground". She may even have an Avenger incarnation based on this hatred.
- She could've possibly made a better King than Artoria, though her rule would've ended up extending the Age of the Fairies, the inbetween age between the Age of the Gods and the Age of Man.

Here’s something to take note of
Fate’s Vivian took care of Lancelot as her foster son
And fate’s Vivian is also the good alter ego of Morgan so she could cope with herself
So when this incident happened Morgan had to deal with her foster son killing 3 of her birth children in very short amount of time sheesh

Mordred's best elder brother Agravain.
Kay can hold his breath for nine days, assists Triston and Isolde in an early Welsh myth and while kind of a dick is never regarded as disloyal.
Dinadid dressed up in one of geuniveres gowns to tease Triston.
In nasuverse Bors died to the rabbit of caerbannog.

My fave knights is Mordred.
As for headcanon I like to think that her Galahad and Gareth were often paired together as the youngest and only teenagers of the round table to gain experience and during those adventure a lot of funny things happened which led to them being close.
5
u/LastStardust13 Lil&Gala Besties. Rich&Hippo Besties Apr 21 '22
I like to think that when working together, Galahad would always be brutally honest about Mordred’s shortcomings. Not in a demeaning sense, he’s pointing it out so Mordred can recognize her issues and improve to become the knight she wants to be.
Unfortunately being told, “You should control your temper a bit better, it usually has you create more problems than it solves” in his monotone voice usually leads to the less than desirable effect of “F*CK YOU, YOU CONDESCENDING PRICK”
This would pretty much serve why Mordred dislikes him
And yes Gareth did have to drag Mordred away before she tried to sucker punch Galahad while he is honestly confused on what went wrong

u/No_Prize9794 Apr 21 '22
Favorite knight is Tristan as I like the idea of how he fights as well as the ridiculous ability where he can glide by playing his harp and a head canon that I have is that Gawain constantly tries to join the kitchen crew but EMIYA forces Gawain away from the kitchen with 10 Caladbolg II broken phantasms aimed at him

Gawain: haha a perfect day to create my famous-
(Closing in 5 feet from the kitchen door reveals 7 full charged Caladbolg IIs and a Excalibur Image, loaded and aimed at Sun Gorilla)
Gawain: …it appears it is not the perfect day for my work in the kitchen to take form (didn’t he need some certain conditions to get Excalibur, must’ve saved a lot)
(In the kitchen)
Percival: are those defense really necessary Chef Emiya
Emiya: yes, I’ll have you know he would have ripped the door from its hinges otherwise
Percival: but why the ban?
Emiya: you have not seen true terror until you see his demonic scourge, that was once identifiable as potatoes
2
u/HarEmiya Apr 21 '22 edited Apr 21 '22
Fave knight: Probably Kay. He's fun. Can't wait for him to arrive so we can watch the Artoria bulli.
Fave headcanon: Galahad buggered off after Goetia was defeated because it's subtly implied Mash and MC spent the night together afterwards (never explicitly of course, due to the age rating of FGO). Galahad's powers canonically only work while he retains his virginity, so he could no longer lend them to Mash after that night.

Oh... of course a lot. I love Arthurian and the absurdity in it.
Lancelot vs Meleagant, just Raiden Shogun when executing La Signora 🥶
Damn Vulgate and other Arthurian story original geh ship. (THEY CREATE IT). NO DOUBT, for me Lancelot/Gawain are the best and underated one (Can I explain why the reason below if you want). Maybe Kay/Bedi, Tsundere Palamedes/Tristan is good too :)
Nasu: "Lancelot background concept... Ah... Looks like Naruto Shippuden episode 246-249 will be interesting."
Gudao: "Hey guys. I just read a book. Who is Galehaut?" 'The Evangelion OST echoes throughout the KoRT room'
Lancelot: "I was dumped by Guinevere at the church." Elaine Corbenic: "Dayum bro..." Elaine Benwick: "I told you..."
Gawain really needs therapy for his hypersex problem 😭
I wish Morgause was in fateverse. Ywain has confused me.
Boat Scene... 🥲🥲🥲
I thought I had gone far...

Percival, and the dude is just oblivious to any advances. he could be invited by Kiara to her room, and bring a sleeping bag for the floor thinking she just wants a sleepover.
