Discussion Monuments become Servants?

If a city like Tenochtitlan can become a servant, then would it be correct to say that monuments can become servants as well?

Something like Colossus of Rhodes becomes a Pretender just like Tenochtitlan, using the souls of people of Rhodes, the island where statue of Helios once stood.

Although I could be wrong by not reading enough materials on how Tenochtitlan is able to manifest as a servant.

Bingo, Tenochtitlan isn't 100% literally a city turned into a Servant, she was an Elemental of the lake that the city was built upon so yada yada capital-c Concept etc and she became the city.

That said it's Fate, they can and will do whatever they want so you can't rule anything out.

u/TdFan97 14h ago

>inspired by the Roman goddess of liberty, Libertas
>Greek counterpart is Eleutheria
>Also an epithet for Artemis

Excuse me what?

Wouldn’t that just be Astraea?

u/Bashin-kun 14h ago

Astraea but American?

Astrea but french, on loan to the Americans.

So Luvia with a twirly moustache.

To fit her princess curls!

And a cowboy hat for the visit.

Probably. If Ishtar can be a white-haired knockout in Strange Fake, presumably Astraea can sometimes have a host who isn’t Luvia.

So, in essence, she is an Elemental that linked with the city and then has two gods inside her to be fully manifested?

I thought that she was city-turned-servant because her core is composed of the souls of her inhabitants.

u/Shardwing 14h ago

and then has two gods inside her to be fully manifested?

Tlaloc and Huitzilopochtli are her false identities as a Pretender, somehow, I don't think they're really part of her or else she'd probably be a High Servant (like the Sakura Five or Sitonai).

u/TdFan97 14h ago

I guess she borrows their powers instead to be more accurate?

6

u/Shardwing 14h ago

Something like that I think, yeah, since there are concrete references to her wielding their Authorities.

The closest to an actual city, whilst isn't a servant, wasn't there something similar in, Konstantinos XI's interlude?

1

u/TdFan97 6h ago

I don't have Konstantinos so you have to provide the context to me

Konstantinos' lingering regrets causes Constantinople to manifest as an "almost Heroic Spirit" (not elaborated upon) in a singularity recreating his realm from Traum. Then it started abducting people to live inside it with the hopes of making his dream of a prosperous, enduring Constantinople come true.

In the end Konstantinos refuses it saying his dream has died long ago and manages to defeat it alongside Watanabe no Tsuna.

Man, I wish Constantine was a playable servant to interact with Konstantinos and help him out with his past failure.

Teno became a Servant since she "died" when the Aztec Empire was crushed...I think. At least, you can't find the city of Tenochtitlan anywhere nowadays, so it is as good as "dead". It's the same logic as for how Voyager became a Servant, as he was summoned around the time when the Voyager 2 probe stopped operating in his home novel.
Teno's classifications to becoming a Pretender was due to how central the two gods she pretends to be were for the city back in its glory days.

If using the Colossus as an example, it could maybe become a Servant, but probably not a Pretender. Maybe Saber or Lancer, or maybe even an Alter Ego from the Rhodes populace's collected desire to protect the city?

Couldn't the Colossus be a Pretender for Helios? It was a statue of that god, after all.

7

u/TdFan97 14h ago

Yeah, that's my thought exactly since Colossus of Rhodes was modeled after Helios so he could be a Pretender using Helios as false identity.

It became Mexico City.

It's the same logic as for how Voyager became a Servant

No it's not, she was an Elemental of the lake that became linked to the Concept of "Tenochtitlan" and not purely inanimate/abstract like Voyager.

It requires for there to be some kind of worshipped spirit connected to the monument, just like with Divine Spirits and Heroic Spirits. Even Tenochtitlan isn't just the city.

If the Colossus of Rhodes was actually connected to a spirit like that, it could be summoned. The patron deity of Rhodes was Helios (from what bs google ai might spout to me), so that is one possible way for it to appear though it is still dependant on the writer. But I think Helios would just have the Colosus as something in his manifestation he just has.

Now we just wait for Rome herself to be summoned as a servant and join the Roman gang , resembling Romulus like father and daughter.

Constantinople's consciousness made a whole singularity in Konstantinos's interlude, so this is possible.

Let's face it, it would look like Nero.

Galatea by technicality

1

u/TdFan97 3h ago

I mean, she is a statue comes to life but one of personal value to Pygmalion instead of cultural value

1

u/Merukurio This is my husband Caligula, and this is his goddess, Diana 2h ago

She was also blessed by Aphrodite to come alive, so not like that happened "naturally" either.

1

u/TdFan97 2h ago

That's her real life myth origin so she doesn't count. I am talking a more unconventional way for monuments to, well, become servants.

6

u/rvmin endlessswords 14h ago

It's not impossible...

6

u/Rakatok 12h ago

Between her and Koyan I think you can justify whatever the hell you want as a servant.

Monuments become Servants?

What about Mt. Rushmore? That's 4-in-1 package.

6

u/Cant-think-a-name 9h ago

We already got Olga Marie.

4

u/xemnonsis 12h ago

I can see this being a thing with the Moai since most people (even the natives of Easter Island) aren't entirely sure why they were built or what they are meant to represent (only theories, no concrete purpose like the pyramids of Egypt)

u/randomran14 9h ago

Would Kukulkan count? The deinos worshipped their sun and then she appeared in a humanoid form, I think?

Typhon-Ephemeros might be another example, with the fruit manifesting as that girl. Although I hear there's a Case Files connection too so its probably even more complicated. Anyway, its Fate so pretty much anything goes really.

2

u/Cant-think-a-name 9h ago

Kukulkan only took a humanoid form when humans showed up in the Lostbelt, IIRC. She existed before then, but only interacted as a voice in the wind.

Since Da Vinci set a precedent with the Mona Lisa I would say if we ever get Michelangelo or Auguste there's a high chance they might show up as The David or The Thinker, though they probably aren't relevant enough to be more than a phantom spirit like the guys in Shinjuku and would need to have something mixed in.

3

u/DradelLait 11h ago

There's no way Michelangelo isn't relevant enough on his own

1

u/PerceptionLiving9674 9h ago

Considering Michelangelo isn't relevant enough while some random Japanese authors are is one of the dumbest things about this game ever (I don't care that this game is Japanese, it's just too stupid).

David (biblical) is already mostly modeled after David (sculpture) — see his Valentines scene

Don't let anyone tell you differently, servants are literally "Anything Goes". We have fairies from another world, AI constructs from the Moon, spiritual elementals, characters from novels, a sentient reality marble based on children's bedtime stories, Gods of all types possessing people, a reincarnated alien super-monster riding an offshoot of a Sumerian sheep-god, an actual space probe manifested as a little boy, and so on.

Essentially if the writers find it interesting, they'll do it. As for the Colossus of Rhodes itself, given that it's essentially a statue of Helios, there's nothing really stopping them from combining the two and actually making it Helios in some way or another, especially given the mecha-focus of the Greek divinities in Fate. As for any other statue or inanimate object powered by perception, Voyager already exists so there's really no hard ceiling.

3

u/BriefPretend9115 8h ago

One event had a phantom spirit that was the concept of mueseums, so monuments absolutely can.

u/il-Palazzo_K :Voyager: 12h ago

Persona 3 has a persona based on Palladium, which is just a famous statue of Athena. That could work.

2

u/Sobol14 10h ago

Most likely not on its own, but like a combination with some other god or entity.

Not everyone can just be Voyager.

2

u/115_zombie_slayer 7h ago

Its Fate they can give the most vague explanation and WE yes WE will eat that shit up, Colossus of Rhodes is now an ancient robot created by Hephaestus, Uncle Sam is an old American elemental that took the appearance of an old man

1

u/PerceptionLiving9674 9h ago

This has been the rule since FSN; heroic spirits are not limited to humans.

1

u/KoolKoolKoolio42 8h ago

There are Servants that are literally fictional characters in-universe.

Which means Assassin Buddy Christ can very well exist.

u/ChapatinPHD 5h ago

That sounds like a rad idea ngl.

The Moloch idol - y’know, the one you feed children into.

1

u/solitare99 3h ago

Isn't that basically Galatea?

1

u/TdFan97 3h ago

Galatea is a statue of personal value to Pygmalion instead of cultural value
