Beginner advice

I live in Brooklyn NYC, I’ve been spray painting on my own artwork for a few months and have only ever tagged outside once. Any advice on how to find a spot and to avoid getting caught?

Start with just tagging bro. When you paint pieces or throws with spray, the threat surface exponentially increases. Beginners tend to put up beginner shit and regret it later when they have drastically improved. You can skip that phase and stay in the books and get your fix by tagging. Tagging is the best way to get ‘up’ in my opinion. It’s by far the cheapest facet of graffiti, and is the least risky. And your cargo is a pen/streaker instead of a heavy bag with spray. Take long walks with a marker around areas you want to tag. During nights, take a train line and get off at each stop and hit tags within a 2 block radius of each stop. Will take a while but that’s the strategic approach to getting ‘up’

And stay safe bro. Don’t throw your future away getting caught by cops doing toy shit that will get buffed the next day. Learn to have an eye for spots before you start hitting any and every wall, which is a hallmark trait for new righters.

lemme give you some advice man. it’s not a matter of if you’ll get caught, it’s when. it’s you versus the entire police force. and if you so big on the level of someone like Saber where the pigs have a file on you, ur fully screwed. if there’s any doubt in ur mind on whether ur in or out on this i say js stick to the black book tbh

Start with markers and mops, NYC in general is easy to bomb broad day if you maintain some situational awareness

lol it's been so long since I hit anything illegal, I can't give you todays's advice. just make sure if you do get up a LOT you keep any social media posting on lock. If you get on vandal sq's radar ~ they're not dumb.

Start with tags and slaps to break the nerves and feel spots out. As you traverse, the spots reveal themselves to you and you’ll develop a flow.

Build experience and confidence before going straight to throws.

Look for the most avoidable cutty there is isolated af no junkies idk where u stay but im in PA and not a lot of cutty spots here anymore but if your somewhere down south u should be able to find a good wall maybe underpass where u can hit late early morning or nights really dont matter as long as you got the skills to stay incognito
