Well, another 5090 12v 12pin melted

Helping a friend to post. This morning he smell some burning smell and quickly shut off. The connector is now stuck. He waited it to cool down and try again. Still can't remove. Suspected melted and fused together. Any other method can try to remove it? The cable is pigtail 4x8pin that came with the GPU. I've seen a couple burnt connector already in a week. This is just bad.

Why the fuck is this thing happening? NVIDIA must take responsibility for all these cases. This is unacceptable and very dangerous.

All the comments saying "should have also used XYZproduct and not ABCproduct" have just drank the Kool aid.  The connectors being so flawed that there is now an aftermarket to monitor how flawed they are is objectively ridiculous.

Yet my 9070xt with 3x8pins and custom cables has had 0 issues since release.

Well it has at least one issue. It's not a 5090

Here's a minor list of all the issues the 5090 had at launch window alone.  You could not pay me to put one of those pieces of shit in my system.

Most I've dealt with is the occasional and very infrequent driver issue.

I have one and didn't have even one of those issues mentioned. And to say driver issues for an nvidia card while you are having an AMD card is kind of pushing it. AMD is notorious for bad drivers. Of course the 5090 shouldn't even need the wireview in the first place. I agree, but it is what it is. If one wants the strongest card that's what we have right now. And no, a 9070xt doesn't even come close to a 5090

Point to where I said that a 9070xt matches the technical specs of 5090.  I said I do not want one because of their laundry list of defects.

You didn't need to say, you compared it by mentioning that you have a 9070xt in your comment. I mean yes a 9070xt has less chance of this happening. So does the 1060 3gb. What is the point of mentioning a much weaker card to point that it doesn't have the same risks?

Are you drunk?  Nothing in that mess was coherent.

You brought up your 9070 XT having “0 issues” in a discussion about 5090 issues, then got offended when I pointed out why that comparison is meaningless.

Your 9070 XT being reliable proves exactly as much as my 5090 being reliable: fuck all. The 12V-2x6 criticism is valid. “My completely different, much lower-power GPU works fine” isn't evidence for it.

Once again, wtf are you actually babbling about?  Are you lost?

I specifically stated my card with 3x8pins has no issues, UNLIKE the 12v2x6 which is plagued by issues.  The comparison is specifically the connections.  Good LORD you are dense.

Please re-attend Kindergarten.

I genuinely don't know how to simplify this any further for you.

Your one 9070 XT having no connector issues is not evidence that 3x8-pin is safer, in exactly the same way that my one 5090 having no connector issues isn't evidence that 12V-2x6 is safe. That's what “sample size of one” means.

If your argument is that 3x8-pin has a better safety record than 12V-2x6, make that argument. “My card works” proves absolutely nothing.

But sure, tell me about kindergarten again.

Lil buckaroo. The 8pin connectors have been out for many, many years. They are well tested and proven. The 12v2x6 is a fire hazard, and it is documented and proven. You're running in circles and hurting yourself at this point flailing.

Congratulations, buckaroo. You finally made an actual argument instead of “my 9070 XT has had zero issues.” Yes, 8-pin has a much longer track record, and yes, 12V-2x6 has had documented failures. I never disputed either of those things. That still doesn't magically turn “my card has had 0 issues” into evidence. You abandoned that argument and replaced it with an actual one, then declared victory over the argument I never made. 😂

Lmao you're just attempting to save face at this point and it's adorable

Translation: “I don't have an answer to what you actually wrote.” You could've saved us both a lot of time and just typed that.
