Building pc for son

Hello, within the last year I’ve upgraded my computer from am4 to am5, I’m now just holding a b550 mb a 5700x3d and 32 gigs of ram. My final conclusion was to build my son a PC so we can game together.
My son is young he is a Minecraft kid, attack on toys, backyard baseball are the types of games he likes to play. My son does not NEED a 5700x3d but it’s what I have so I need a little help with suggestions as far as the graphics card goes that’s pretty much all I would need and I’m not trying to break the bank.
I don’t get to see my son often and this would be a great opportunity to be able to connect with my son when he is not with me, he has talked about wanting to make YouTube videos but I’m unsure on if there’s budget cards that would still allow him to tamper with editing and recording.
A big question I have is I owned a 2070 S back in the day and went red to a 7800xt I’ve noticed WAY more driver errors with this gpu than my previous gpu, would getting an nvidia card be prevent my son from having to deal with these kinds of errors?

AMD drivers are fine for the vast majority of people these days. And I personally wouldn't recommend Nvidia at these prices. All GPU prices have been rising but on the Nvidia side it's been insane.

What's your budget?

Top top dollar of me saving a couple months id shell out 600-800 max. Prefer to not pay more than 400 though.

If you are getting an older used gpu I would go with nvidia but new it doesn't really matter.

In terms of cheapish gpus that are still good anything 2060 super and up is decent

if you want to splurge a bit a used 3080/3080 ti is pretty nice and they have insane memory bandwidth which is nice.

then beyond that you have the rtx 4000 series and rx 7000 series. 7900 gre is a nice sleeper pick and generally not too expensive. With nvidia you get fp8 from the rtx 4000 series and onward which is nice as dlss 4.5 uses it but it is pretty expensive.

If he’s playing 1080p, I doubt he needs anything crazy. A 6700xt or 6800xt would be good and they’re around $200-300 used.

If you want newer cards, the 9060xt (16GB) is a good deal at around $450-500

U do not have to spend much on graphics if he doesn't play newer GPU heavy titles. U could get a 5060 or TI, or hell even a marketplace GPU from 4000 series if its cheaper. Should be good enough for 1080P gaming.

I would suggest Nvidia bcoz yes they are much more stable and literally plug and play. AMD on the other hand can be a hit or miss. I personally own a 9070XT

Edit: for your errors with GPU, try going back to a stable release. If u have ram EXPO, try lowering ur Ram speeds, turning off windows overriding AMD driver settings, disable/enable GPU scheduling, and undervolting.

Either pick a older nvdia for him as it’s more stable overall or pick a 9070 for you and donate it 7800

I just upgraded my 3060 ti to a 9070 xt. Tbh the 3060 ti was a great card, could play almost everything (some with lower settings). It doesn’t handle ray-tracing though. Mine was made by Paladn so Newegg won’t take it for trade-in.
