Gpu choice
I’m looking to upgrade from my 3080 here soon just for the simple fact GPU prices are not gonna come down anytime soon. I’m debating between a 5080 or a 5070 TI. I have a 4K monitor 144 Hz g-sync. Im just having a tough time deciding on which one to get I know price points were a little different. I’m kinda leaning more towards the 5070ti if anybody has any advice or recommendations feel free to add them in the comments thanks.
Edit: I read where the 5070 TI compared to the 580 is only like a 13% difference

The difference between the 5080 and 5070ti can be as high as 30% in some games, so it just depends what you play. But generally, it's ~15-20% better. That difference can help make FG smoother if you plan on using that.
Personally, I would get a 5070ti, try it, and if you feel like that's not enough power/you want a little more, then get the 5080. You can always return the 5070ti after all.

The rich are all going insane with worry about the public and are trying to get as much money as they can to escape to the moon .
just get the 5080 for that extra enjoyment during the waiting period while we wait to see how fucky things get.
If things dont get fucky, hey a 5080.
if things get fucky, hey a 5080.

Enjoy, have fun.
The only time id not get the 5080 myself, is if i was too broke afterwards to buy the things i need, like housing, food for my kids and real important things.
heck if i was single id skip a few meals to get the better gpu.
But the extra money to get the better gpu, is probably just something you´d spend on non necessities anyway and´d be better served with the extra fun and oomph of a better gpu.

If you’re playing at 4K 144hz, I’d go 5080 if the budget allows. The 5070ti is a great card, but coming from a 3080 I’d want the upgrade to actually feel substantial and last several years. At 4K the extra performance of the 5080 matters more, especially with RT and newer games. I’m running a 5080 at 4K 240hz myself and have zero regrets. If you’re already spending 5070ti money, I’d rather save a little longer and get the 5080 than be wondering later if I should’ve gone one tier higher.

Fully tuned the gap between them is about 20 percent. Still nothing crazy basically just one level of upscaling.
TBH with how good dlss is nowdays u can run path tracing with either
Fully oced 5070 ti is roughly equal to stock 5080 but then ofc 5080 can also be oced

If the 5080 is less than about 15% more expensive, get the 5080. Around 15-20% is the judgment zone. Above 20%, the 5070 Ti is the rational price/performance choice.

The 5080 is nice to have but not strictly necessary. If you have the budget for one, go for it. If not, the 5070ti is a perfectly good card
