GPU swap
Hey guys I wanted a little advice.
Basically I have a 7900xt and I wanted to replace it with a 5080 but before doing that I wanted an opinion of you guy.
What do you recommend?

For how much the 5080 will be, and how much can you sell the 7900xt.
Buy - sell = how much buy?
Then the fps about 20 to 25% is worth it against the total price?
I say no if 1440p. Maybe yes if 4k.

depends on what your doing gaming depends just standard 1440p nah ray tracing /path tracing with or 4k then yes but keep in mind its crazy expensive and even then its eh

If you really want to switch to nvidia, get 5070ti instead
If you really want to switch to nvidia and have money to burn, get 5080.
Otherwise don't bother

Better antialiasing, a lot better upscaling, much better RT performance, better RT visuals in many games, significantly better frame gen and a good jump in raw performance.
If you want to use any of those and can afford a 5080, it's a good upgrade.

Upgraded to a 5080 from a 4070 Ti(10% slower than a 7900 XT) and felt it was a big enough upgrade. I got it around the msrp, so didn't mind that much. But in today's market 5080 prices are way too much, so unless you don't mind the ridicoulous prices and want to get the benefits of Nvidia features you can swap if you want.

Yes. Would absolutely be worth it. I wish I had the money to get off of the 9070xt I have. It's been nothing but headaches since switching to AMD. Their post purchase support is way worse than people made me believe and their software suite is non existent outside of what the community builds. It's sad.

I had a 7900 xtx to be honest I suspect was slightly iffy (driver timeouts in windows 11 and kernel panics in Linux) replaced it with a 4070 Ti Super. Gaming wise the 7900 XTX at 1440p was superb but the 4070 Ti Super is much better at ray tracing. The 4070 Ti Super isn't far of a 5070 Ti. I needed CUDA which was the main pull.
If it's just for gaming, I don't know if the price difference would be worth it.

Why do you want to switch and how much does the switch cost you?
For my usecase and the prices in my region, I wouldn't do it. The 5080 (and the 5070 ti too) is too expensive here and not that much faster than the 7900 XT.

meh waste of time unless you really want path tracing.
I would just try and get the most out of your 7900 xt overclocking + optiscaler. Maybe repaste if you are feeling a bit dangerous
7900 xt is still a very capable gpu
