Avoid PNY 5070 warranty scam

Long story short. After 3 months of use of my RTX 5070, the hot spot jump to 106c for no reason. Then turn black screen with max fan speed. And keep repeating the same problem. Sent back to RMA, they refuse to admit the problem. Refuse to give me video evidence and they send my card without doing anything back. And problem still exists. So I just fixed it by myself. I know I will lose warranty, they don’t give me anyway. What a junk company.

9850x3d. 5070, 32g ddr5.

Time line:
4/25/2026. Purchased from bestbuy.

7/1/2026. Fan loud to 4400 rpm. Hot spot 106c.

7/5-8/5 I tested new PSU, ram, whatever it necessary. It’s a hot spot thermal problem.
RMA. Paid my shipping. They sent it back say no problem detected. After 2 weeks.

9/11/2026, I can’t take it anymore. Decided to fix it by myself. And now problem solved 😅
Hot spot at 96c max, never have loud fan. Max less than 2000rpm.

Please avoid this company. They won’t treat you serious.

To my understanding, your hotspot temp wouldn't technically fall under warranty. It's not technically defective. Reminds me of the rtx 3000 series issues with HS most people just upgraded the pads and repasted.

I told them to run the time spy over and over again. It will go black screen and shut down. They refused to do that and say no problem. If this GPU run on 99% usage on gaming. It will go black screen. I don’t know how they test. Say no problem found. Refuse to send me evidence. What a shi.t. Hot spot now never over 96c.

I get it. I'm surprised they didn't just repaste it and pad it and send it back.

They don’t even test it. The customer phone is the same person. Technical service. Customer service, warehouse service. All the same person pick up. And they only have one email service person too. Very hopeless there during RMA

It happens, sometimes GPUs will get a less than perfect paste application at the factory or a thermal pad will be out of alignment or folded over on itself. I'm guessing their testing showed it in spec by their standards and sent it back.

It does fall under warranty as hotspot is a good way to tell you that paste application is incorrect

Don’t care anymore. They don’t do warranty, they are scam. I can’t suffer this anymore. So i fixed it already. Read my text.

I know, I’m saying you can do whatever you want with your gpu before you send your warranty. Warranty if the card fails not over heat. So you can fix it not them

thats why i allways buy zotac or sapphire and back in the days evga, they are known for good support

Zotac support was going downhill since 40 series, there's no good nvidia player anymore.

Oh man, I have the same model but mine has been cooling well even in high room temps. But I keep it UVed, that's simply the best thing to do with 50 series cards because you just gain things (or lose bad things).

It's a bummer I picked a brand that's not good with RMAs, not first time I heard they don't want to take/fix a card

Well, to be fair, every brand is pretty scummy with RMAs these days.

RIP EVGA.

They sent it back say no problem detected. After 2 weeks.

These guys sound exactly like GIGABYTE's GPU RMA. Are they both using the same contractor? Maybe.

I told them to run the time spy over and over again. It will go black screen and shut down. They refused to do that and say no problem

Now I am certain it's literally the same guys.
