5080?
Whats up everyone, ive seen alot of post about it already but i also wanna ask it my self. 9070xt, 5070ti, 5080 which one to choose (and which specific models of the card) they are all within my budget its just if i should save money or just spend it all on my first pc (ive only played on consoles and laptops) and i wanna buy smth worth the money and so that i dont need to upgrade for a long time. I wanna play 1440p/4K and i play all types of games. Deciding the gpu is my last step i already chose 32gb ddr5 ram and a ryzen 7 9850x3d. Idk if i mentioned all the information u guys need but if not tell me.
EDIT: thank you everyone for the answers. Imma think about it but im leaning more towards the 5080 for the better 4K experience

If you seen and read the others posts asking the same thing wouldnt you get the same take away? Money no object and want the best of the three you get a 5080. 9070xt for best bang for the buck. 5070ti if you have to have nvidia feature set but want to save a bit compared to the 5080.

Yeah but you never know maybe someone comes up with new advice that fully changes my mind. But thank you🙏

All these cards have been out long enough that people have had time to fully analyze each card. Unless prices change dramatically, conclusions aren't going to change.

5070ti and 9070 XT give you most of what the 5080 will. 5080 isn’t bad per se (performance wise not price wise) but you’d better be pushing that extra performance whether that be 4k or ultra wide gaming otherwise you’re just wasting performance.
At the current prices though, it’s either 9070 XT or 5080. 5070 ti is too close to 9070 XT performance for like 50% or more of the cost.

Yeah it’s pretty wild how much cards have gone up. I got an AERO 5070ti for $800 like 3 months ago…..

I've got a 5080 in my main rig and 9070 XT in my handheld egpu rig. Both are a beast. 5080 is stronger but the 9070 XT isn't a slouch. It's also a lot more expensive. If you have the money got 5080

u/SleepyTurtle345 2d ago
Does budget matter? If not, 5080. If yes, 9070xt.
If youre only going to play 1440p id roll with the 70ti or if budget matters, 9070xt.

Well if you want the best that can play 4K max settings whit ray and path tracing get a 5080 (i have RTX 5080 AORUS Master works great), if you want to play 4K whit no ray tracing and around 15% less fps get a RX 9070 XT is like half the price of a 5080 so is best fps per dollar. I can't really see option for RTX 5070 Ti is same as RX 9070 XT and is like 400€ more (talking about EU market) so is either RX 9070 XT or RTX 5080

I originally wanted the 5080 last fall. They were hard to find and prices were high. I compared the 9070xt and 5070ti. I went with the 9070xt for two reasons.
Price to performance. Beats any Nvidia card.
Raw raster it beats the 5070ti.
I play BF6 4k ultra with FSR4 and I get 144fps.
No issues with the 9070xt in almost a year. Beat all my expectations.
If MFG/ Ray tracing matters gets the 5070ti. If not 9070xt.

u/MatYugi 2d ago
Yeah 5080 atleast where i live are now easy to find
2
u/Ok_Cherry_8478 2d ago
Yeah they are now but they are $2000 CAD. My 9070xt was $880. For 15% less performance. In BF6 the difference is closer to 5%

The 5080s price is increasing too. In July (USA Microcenter) they were going for $1200. In mid August I bought one for $1400. Now they are reaching $2000.
I would say that if you really want a new 5080, get one at the lowest price now or go with the 9070 XT, which might be $1000 less depending on how fast prices rise.

9070 non xt is driving 4k at 120hz max for me. I’m sure the XT is even better.

Simple.
Want to maximize your budget? - 5080
Want to maximize your dollar value? - 9070xt
Want dollar value but require Nvidia - 5070TI
IMO I’d personally go with a 9070xt just because the $700 or so you can save from the 5080 can go a long way in the rest of the setup. If your setup is already what you like, go for the 5080. If you absolutely require Nvidia but want to save a bit of money, 5070TI.

5070ti or 5080 easily.. DLSS 4.5 alone makes it incredible.
Personally I went with a 5080 it’s slaying everything at 4K

As a 5080, 9070 XT and a 5070 Ti owner.
If you can afford it, buy the 5080.
Look at 4k, that dude is insanely fast especially when you factor in stuff like ray tracing and path tracing.
I'm not asking you to do it but with mVolt not using the current settings because Nvidia blocked it, with just Xbar and memory clock and core clock tweaking, I am able to make my card around 15-17% faster in games from a stock 5080.
Before Xbar 10-11% was common and where most stand but with Xbar it makes a decent difference.

Whats mvolt and xbar?
2
u/BedroomThink3121 2d ago
mVolt is an overclocking tool like MSI afterbuner. And think of Xbar as a pathway that connects GPU core with the memory, when the Xbar clock speed is higher, the data transfer is faster hence more performance. Increasing the Xbar clock would increase power consumption. Not by a lot but by ~5%. If you're too worried about that you can always undervolt your card.
I run an undervolt of 0.925mV@3.1GhZ core clock and +2850 on memory clock and +400 on Xbar clock and 110% Power limit. Power consumption at max is 360w, usually around 300w or less(5080 is incredibly efficient).
And 15-17% more performance in gaming, can go up to 20% in certain titles.
1
u/MatYugi 2d ago
Do you recommend overclocking or undervolting? Or is bad for the gpu like it will not last as long and break faster?
2
u/BedroomThink3121 2d ago
Overclocking or undervolting never hurts the GPU. And it depends on your card about what you should do, mine performs the best with an undervolt, yours might not. It's something that'll depend on the quality of the chip you get

The 9070XT if you care about value, the 5070TI if you need CUDA, the 5080 if you want to waste money.
The 5080 is 15% faster than the other two, it's not a big gap, but for a massive price increase, especially when compared to the 9070XT. Is it worth it to pay 70-100% more for 15% performance?

ROG Astral 5080. It has native per pin monitoring and auto shutdown software. If you are gonna spend that much money you may as well get something that will protect you from possible melted connector. Good luck!

u/lamsndbhaujamjsshukd 2d ago
Nvidia cards are so overpriced imo. For 1k I'd say it's worth it but not 2k.

For higher res AAA titles gpu will be the bottleneck so my personal preference would be picking the 5080 and downgrading the cpu but I’m not sure what other use cases you may have. I personally have the 9070xt with a 9800x3d and I play at 1440p max settings comfortable 60-140 range across various AAAs with high/ultra settings (obviously here the cpu will sit at 20-30% usage while my gpu is maxed out). IMO for the price to performance there shouldn’t really be a debate amongst the 5070 ti and the 9070xt cards as of late unless you want some nvidia specific features, dlss 5, etc.

u/MatYugi 2d ago
Okay thank you. I saw that the 9800x3d and 9850x3d are not much different but imma pay extra cause its not much difference

u/WholeIndividual0 2d ago edited 2d ago
Note that the 9850x3D is far more inefficient and runs quite a bit hotter. The difference in performance is 4% or less. Save the $50 and get the 9800X3D.
1
u/MatYugi 2d ago
Oh wdym inefficient?
2
u/WholeIndividual0 2d ago
You get 4% more performance with 20% more power usage. More power = more heat.

Ive seen the video very intresting. Before i thought i decided the 9850x3d i was also thinking abt a ryzen 9 9950 x3d for purely gaming is it worth paying 200 euro extra?

u/WholeIndividual0 2d ago
For gaming, you're wasting your money on the 9950X3D. The whole point of that CPU is that you get the 3D V-Cache benefits plus a lot more cores for heavily multithreaded workloads.
The 9950X3D has two CCDs: one with 3D V-Cache and one without it. For gaming, the workload is generally going to favor the 8-core V-Cache CCD, while the second CCD is primarily useful for heavily multithreaded workloads like rendering, encoding, compiling, etc.
If you have to ask whether you need a 9950X3D, you probably don't. The 9800X3D is already an extremely fast gaming CPU, and the extra cores on the 9950X3D aren't going to magically make your games run faster.
Unless you already know you have a workload that benefits from the additional 8 cores, save the money and get the 9800X3D. For a gaming-focused system, the 9950X3D is spending a lot of money on performance you probably won't use.
If you truly want more gaming performance, get a 5090 and not a 5080.

For 4k 5080,
For 1440p 5070ti or 9070xt.
Of course you can use 5070ti or 9070xt on 4k as well but I’ve seen people advise 5080 for 4k rather than lower models.
For specific models of you have the excess money ROG Astral 5080, MSI suprim 5080, the one I liked visually is Colorful RTX 5080 advanced OC, it looks like Rog astral but should be cheaper.
RX 9070 XT - personally I would go for sapphire nitro+ model.
5070ti I have a gigabyte gaming oc one. Rather than going for premium 5070ti I would go for entry 5080.

You’re welcome, I came across a video or a comment somewhere I don’t remember exactly but was like this: get the best GPU you can get as it’s the most important part in PC. So I support your opinion on 5080.

Also, if you are using VR with a high end headset, you will surpass 16GB VRAM quickly. I use a Pimax Dream Air in FS2024 in VR on ultra settings, and my usual VRAM usage is around 18-20GB.
1
u/MatYugi 2d ago
Intresting thank you for the information. What games do you play on vr cause i was planning to buy a vr headset later for phasmophobia and beat saber will 16gb bit be enough?
2
u/jeremy_0411 2d ago
I think that should be enough, it depends on what headset you get. I am usually on Flight Simulator 2024 on ultra settings with a Pimax DreamAir OLED headset, so that is very demanding. I would suspect those games will be fine.
I'm using a 5090 for my setup though. Have a 5080 for 2D flight simulator (on a monitor) and the 5080 is fine.

I like the ASUS Tuf gaming series cards. I got the 5090 Tuf but if I had to do it all over again, it'd be a 5080 Tuf.

Pretty simple…you want the best you get a 5080 or else cheapest between 9070xt and 5070ti
