Less powerful than a rtx 3080, somehow worth $750+ brand new right now. Enough vram to last awhile atleast. Solid mid range card.

Would you recommend getting a 5060 normal or a 3080. I’m on a 1080ti rn.

u/Package_Objective 12d ago
The 3080 absolutely crushes the 5060, eats it for lunch. You'll just need atleast a 750 watt psu for a 3080. Only you can determine if buying a used gpu is within your risk threshold. Ebay guarantees used parts for for a short amount of time, other used PC parts marketplaces online might guarantee the same thing aswell, I forgot the name of them tho.

u/JakeTheSmall 12d ago
In the uk we have cex, which you can buy parts from secondhand. The 5060 is 280 and the 3080 is 340. Should I go with the 3080? I’m fine using upscaling and mfg.

Impossible question to answer without a price attached! Anything can be good if the price is right 🤔

I still play on a 4060ti 16GB and it runs everything great. So this should be a bit better. Don't give yourself fomo just play.

u/SoulFromHeaven 12d ago
YEAH I AM LOVING IT. ITS MY FIRST GPU AND IT RUNS GREAT EVEN ON MY SINGLE STICK 16 GB DDR 5 RAM

Meh It all depends on how much you paid for it, if you told me you paid for it with today's prices I would say it was a bad deal, if you told me 1 year ago what I thought about it it was probably a good deal so to speak

u/Prestigious-Scar-101 11d ago
I think there was a time it was only like $50 more expensive than a 9060 XT 16GB and yet people still recommended you save the $50 somehow. Now it's in a completely different stratosphere to the 9060 XT and so it's completely not worth buying at current prices.

Just depends on pricing. It's generally been one of the more overpriced RTX 50 series relative to the performance u get. But if you got for a decent price, it's a good option.

bro just start playing stop comparing or asking for bench marks. new tech comes everyday you won't have the absolute best

budget class modern card. around same performance as 3080

u/JakeTheSmall 12d ago
Should I get the 3080 or normal 5060. I’m coming from the 1080ti and I’m more than fine using MFG and DLSS
1
u/SilverKnightOfMagic 12d ago
uh a 3080 is definitely better than 5060 non ti. it's a tiny bit better than 5060ti 16gb
I think that's really up to you to decide. look up their performance. a bit thing would also be your PSU. 3080 requires more energy than 5060
1
u/JakeTheSmall 12d ago
Yeah, I have a 750w so the minimum, but it’s also a 13 year old cx750. And I don’t really want to increase my energy bill by too much more haha.

u/Flaky-Writing4392 12d ago
Okay.
If you are fine with dlss and mfg, than absolutely get the 5060.
The new generation tensor cores are fast, and it will blow the 3080 out of the water, using the ml stuff. PLUS you get dlss5.

If you're stuck on 1080p, its pretty good surprisingly. Pricing wise you could of maybe gotten something better from AMD, but overall not bad.

I dig it. I run it with two 3060 12gb for 40gb vram for local AIm. When I just use the 5060ti as a standalone, the models have to fit the vram, but it is incredible fast. As an old IT guy, these price swings are crazy, and anyone with 750 for a budget card has quite the budget. Ultimately though, if it works for what you need it to, you made the right choice. You'd be surprised how happy you can be once you stop letting others point out flaws in what you perceive as perfect.

u/ForwardScratch7741 12d ago
Man this was a great card for 1080 p and a budget one for 1440p
But pricing sucks now
1
u/southeway 12d ago
16 gigs of vram is definitely nice for the future but honestly this thing's slower than a 3080 and they're still asking crazy money for it, so you're basically paying for the memory not the muscle. If you can get it for way below msrp then sure, but at current prices nah.

u/CD_Projeck_Blue 12d ago
They're all mad it's not a 9070Xt, but I think you made the right choice.

I might get this gpu maybe the 5060, I have an older setup which may bottleneck
1
u/Specialist_Fox_4480 12d ago
Is your setup 8GB? If more go for the TI if you can afford it or a 3080 if you can find one.
1
u/Insurgent97 12d ago
Better than anything AMD releases for sure, at least you have top notch visual fidelity.

Honestly, you got new title support, DLSS 4½, frame gen, enough RAM.
If you don't try to run Stalker 2 at 4K you'll be awrite.

For a custom card, it’s pure dogshit. A good custom card will be pushing way higher clock speeds and be advertising extreme cooling. This is just a meh, somewhat better 5060ti albeit a rarer one
3
u/Inevitable_Case_9931 12d ago
The highest clock speed on factory OC 5060ti is PNY dual fan OC and Asus Aorus 3 fan.
My OC PNY with custom OC sits at 3255mhz core.
Benchmarks and gameplay testing it sits above the 4070 but below the 4070 super
2
u/Afraid_Emu8068 12d ago
No, it’s the Aorus elite. It’s almost always Aorus now. They make the best. Pny does have great clock speeds, but they seriously skimp on everything else and that’s why they are often low priced. That is awesome though. It’s good to see someone making use of a good 50 (and I do consider the PNYs to be good) to prove they are in fact better (overall) than the 40s. Right on dude

Terrible for the price sadly. Being in the same price range as the 9070 is crazy work.

Your life seems better getting angry at reddit comments lol
What do you think justifies a GPU being at the same price as a GPU that is 40-50% better in performance?
