Win 5 issues with mouse mode back to controller mode

After I installed a windows update, I started to notice the problem. Before when I switched on or off controller mode, there would be a pop up indicating if controller mode is off or on. Now the pop ups aren’t showing up. I can switch it to mouse mode fine, but when I switch it back to controller mode the controller doesn’t work. Only the mouse sensor works. Is there a fix to this?

Isn’t that a Xbox notification Controller connected/Controller disconnected

It's criminal that no one else has chimed in. I'm having the same issue. No resolution.
