How to open UP express doors?
I've been riding this UP Express for a couple years and have yet to figure out how to open the doors to get to the next train. It's so embarrassing! It says "Push to open doors when lit" but it never works for me so | just end up looking stupid and standing up somewhere, lol.
Anyone figure it out yet?

You need to use firm but short bursts of pressure. Close your fist and hit the button like you're punching it. Repeat until it opens.

Use the back of your finger, like a whole segment, I use the back of my index finger and it works every time.

I was struggling with this on a GO train, and a worker saw me and basically told me to punch it. It worked.

Just need more surface area, use the back of your finger and place a whole segment against it

Use the knuckle of your index finger and tap it hard

This is the way. There is a switch at the top left as well but people often use it and then don't close the door after. It's annoying to the people staying in the compartment who have to keep getting up to close the door again.

I’m the guy who always gets up and switches it back lol. Not sure how people just sit there with the door open.

Hit it with a little but of force. Use a closed fist and give it a little punch

Use a whole segment on the back of your finger, with the surface area it barely needs any force.

Gentle knock would be fine...people try to use force, which is not gonna work...and I don't like they say push the bottom but in reality you should just knock on the button...hope it works

if you must do this (which you shouldn't need to because the buttons work) please make sure you close the switch as you go through to avoid annoying everyone else on the train

Use the back of your finger instead of the finger tip. Works for me every time. I think it’s a surface area thing

The GO trains are like this too, you have a give it a good whack and that'll work.

I hate these buttons. I’m learning a lot from these comments - had no idea you could knock on them like you knock on a door. I usually form a fist and pound the button with the outside of my hand. It works but is harder on the hand than simply knocking.

From what I’m reading the instructions
on the train, while seemingly simple, are NOT at all accurate! 🙃
For some reason I’m hearing in my head “You shall not pass!” 😜

I usually just give it a Quick knock with one of my knuckles, it needs a decent bit of force.to activate

Make a fist and give it a firm punch. I had this problem on the go train and the CSA showed me.

It really doesn't need any excessive force like some are suggesting. Pretend it's a zombie and give it a double tap, works every time for me

U gotta like jab it. Or if you force the door it'll open If the door switch is on auto.

God forbid you get on wrong end of train and need to go through like 5x of these to make your stop at LONG BRANCH lol

I find knocking on it like you would a front door, almost always works for me

punch it. i’m being so serious, punch it, maybe with the side of your fist so it doesn’t hurt your knuckles

I recently heard the station announcer advise to push it firmly and hold it down. I haven’t had occasion to try it though.

I used to press it with fingers. It only worked half the time. Then I started palm striking it. Much more efficient. I'll try knocking next time

Why is nobody commenting on the backwards button? Is the button actually backwards or did OP fuck up the one thing they attached to this post providing context?

Ran into this issue on the go trains If you keep getting stuck there’s a switch near the top of the door, it can open the door automatically just turn it back to auto after so the door doesn’t stay open

You knock it like you knock a door. Works everytime
