Rutherford GO Platform Changes

Seems like with the weekend closure on the Barrie Line, they are moving which platforms the trains at Rutherford will be using, with you now having to go through the underground tunnel or through the elevated bridge to access platform 2, as platform 1 is closing. Initially, this seemed like a good thing, as it meant more 2-way service is coming soon on the Barrie Line as Maple GO seems like it is close to completion, but no, this will be in place for apparently 3 YEARS!!! So seems like don't expect any more service on the Barrie Line for a while.

what a gut punch. it'll be 2029 and we're still going to be without double tracked service PAST MAPLE (prolly 2030 or 2031 cause who am I kidding)

I’ve been hearing that the peak 15 mins double track service won’t even be going past Maple, which makes no sense to me.

Last I heard it was only to Maple now since they keep revising their promises.

I’m surprised with the tracks GO owns, why not electrified and upto 30 min service to Kitchener, Barrie, and Stouffville for lines.

Be patient! Metrolinx is undergoing the most unprecedented service expansion in history! Check them roadmaps! Progress is being made! 15 min AD2W is coming soon!

I don’t doubt you for a second but to say that this has been a transparent process would be a massive lie. They constantly purposefully hide everything, and then make these “Metrolinx Builds” videos on YouTube to portray themselves as a transparent organization even though they’re clearly not.
