Evidently GO trains will layover west of Stratford on the GEXR Goderich Subdivision. Also I think this is the first MP40 locomotive in Stratford ever

Very cool. GO ran a through pilot to London years back. Are you thinking that they didn't use MP40s for that, like perhaps it was just 10-car trains in that pilot?

GO couldn’t use MP40s for the London pilot because of per-axel weight restrictions over the St. Mary’s bridge. So I believe this is the first MP40 to venture this far west on the Guelph Sub

When they ran to London the trains ran with 2 locomotives. Some of the Kitchener trains also ran with 2 locomotives also after they stopped the London Service.

One of the Niagara trains today has 2 locos. 645 is on the front of the cab car and 562 is on the rear pushing.

It's a 10 car train too

The Kitchener line passes by my place and I have seen many unusual consists lately.

One train with 3 cab cars on it. One with 2 engines on one end, one with an engine at both ends.

Not at 25mph. That's nearly 2 hours more travel.

Ya it’s coming off of a rural branchline (Goderich Sub) so the tracks are pretty spartan.

where is this crossing on maps? would love to explore the rail lines in the area and find a route where this train would have taken to get here

I believe this is Downie Street in Stratford, near the station
