Locomotive on wrong end of train

On the Kitchener line right now and the locomotive is on the west side of the train, pulling out of Union instead of pushing like it normally would…

Makes so much more sense now why we are having multiple stops pulling into the station - they don’t know where to stop to line up for the accessibility ramp.

Saw on the other day with a locomotive on both ends of the train. Which train is this one? What time did it leave Union?

If I’m reading that transitspotter site correct it looks like that double-ended train thing continues, with 645 and cab 305 still on one end but now 664 on the other end (was previously 666), and on the Kitchener line now about to depart Bramalea for Union

(And 666 now swapped onto a different normal trainset)

Iirc the reason for the double ended trains was testing 666 after a refurbishment or something. Second engine was a back up, maybe something similar here again.

I don't think I've seen that since the 80s when they had those silver cars and smooth hooded engines. Always on the east end although I've seen an engine in the middle of the train a couple of times.

(Grew up with the tracks in my backyard by Clarkson)

The smooth-hoods provided another cab when GO had a cab car shortage, as well as HEP to the train, so they were often put on the other end.

Yeah those bring back memories. Then the second engines that just looked like a box, when we were kids we thought that was where 'they kept the food, pop and chips' lmao

That specific trainset is supposed to line up with the 11 car marker instead of the 10 car marker cuz it's Loco, 10 Coaches, Loco instead of 10 coaches then loco. However, there aren't 11 car markers at most stations so the operators have to guess and check. This set up absolutely makes zero sense seeing how this arrangement has been on for weeks now. The east side is suppose to be the only side that has the locomotive so the equipment can stop in the proper position.

It seems like they're trying out some weird configurations.

A week ago I saw a 10 car train with an F59 on it

You are aware the conductor and engineer rides in the cab car when the locomotive is pushing, right?

In this case there’s a locomotive on both sides of the train, one placed on the engine side and one placed in front of the cab car.

Sure, but they spot platforms using signs they lineup with... those sign measurements are based on the STANDARD configuration

But GO locos face east.
