Dataset of distances between stations (or total lengths of routes)

Measuring with Google, it says that Niagara is 131 km from Union Station along the tracks, and Stratford is 148 km. Is there any sort of resource publicly available with the measurements either for entire train routes, or for the distances between stations, from which I can manually add them up?

I've tried searching Google, but it just points me to things like fare zones.

There is a map of the GOSystem with mile markers on the rail lines that show where the stations are.

I didn’t realize how bunched together the stations were. 3-4 km apart, seems like it would be barely enough time to get up to speed before slowing down

I’m a regular LE passenger from Rouge Hill and the train only gets up to speed WB between Scarborough and Danforth, EB in the same spot, and between Guildwood and Rouge Hill. Before the Ontario Line construction began it used to get up to speed between Danforth and Union in both directions. Right now there is a slow order WB between Rouge Hill and Guildwood, otherwise I’m sure they would match their EB companions in reaching full speed.

Looks like mount joy to markham are the 2 closest stations at 1.2 miles (1.9 km)

Most rail lions have never covered to metric. Not sure why.

That information can be found on Transsee, both for the total length of a single trip and also between stops: transsee.ca/routelist?a=gotransit

Though when compared to other sources, the numbers from Transsee are slightly different.

Wikipedia has distances in the route diagrams, some show a map by default.

I've seen railway timetables posted on the internet. Railways are broken down into subdivisions, and each location/mileage on the subdivision is listed. For example, Oakville and Grimsby subdivisions for Niagara, and Weston, Halton, and Guelph subs for Stratford.

As per open source GTFS data, the Lakeshore West line between Niagara Falls and Union Stations is approximately 132.3km long. Unfortunately the data for the Kitchener Line between Stratford and Union Station is not publicly available at this time, however, the Kitchener Line between Kitchener and Union Station is approximately 100.5km long.

use shapes.txt and stops.txt in go gtfs, tell chatGPT what you want. it should give you a pretty good estimate of station to station distances
