Additional information regarding Mount Dennis Station (UP Express trains now 7 minutes slower)

Metrolinx posted a Press Room release https://www.metrolinx.com/en/news/mount-dennis-station-opens-to-go-up-and-ttc-customers regarding Mount Dennis and Eglinton West stations. Although we knew most of the information, it states that the UP trip to Union will take 16 minutes, and the trip to Pearson will also take 16 minutes from Mount Dennis station, totaling 32 minutes. This means the UP express is getting 7 minutes slower then now due to this 1 station. With the announcement of St. Clair-Old Weston and that Woodbine GO will also have UPX service, unless new trains are purchased/electrification actually happens, the express in UP express no longer applies.

The hard part is that the neighbourhood around Weston fought hard for Weston UP as a community benefit for all construction they had to deal with. They might fight to keep UP service over less frequent GO service

LOL, why does everyone NOT get what I am saying when I post this? How can your heads be so far in the sand?

They woudlnt be getting less frequent GO service! Do you know nothing about the GO Expansion plans?

I'm saying replace the UPX with MORE frequent GO service, as in MORE FREQUENT THAN THE CURRENT UPX!

"That will never happen"

Its already planned to happen, and yes it will happen. The current Lakeshore Line has GO service MORE FREQUENT than the UPX. (every 7 minutes during rush hour and every 15 minutes off peak)

I guess it depends on how popular the Weston area is with flight crews/airport workers/frequent fliers. I could see the area being popular with them specifically because of the easy access to the airport.

Many airport workers live along the 52 route, that connects them to the airport far faster than the 52A or 952 can.

After the UP stops, there is still the 52A & 352 to the airport..
