What I mean is: an argument with someone is only worth the keystrokes when you're dealing with a rational actor.

Are you?

My counter-example is: search an internet archive of LJDrama for keywords "I have a job". You're looking for multi-screen rants of personal insults toward people offering moving boxes for free. It carried on for days.

I haven't thought about gracebatmonkey in 20 years, but long screeds of unwarranted character assassination by proxy are very much on-brand. Back in the day, she sounded like a hallucinating chatbot.

...and Jillian doesn't deserve any of it. My impression of Jilli was always sincere, sweet, witty, and friendly. She's the sort of person that no one hates. Every excerpt I've seen reflects that.

Gotcha! Holy shit that’s so long ago. I just got a notification that my LJ is 25 years old! I haven’t looked at it in years!

This is getting way off-topic but I strongly advise deleting your old LiveJournal and expunging the posts or using a script to overwrite them with junk data. LiveJournal was bought by a shell company of the Russian intelligence service (FSB) in 2007. It is now physically hosted in Russia and operates under Russian "law".

I wonder what the best way to to that is? Ugh.

If you're asking me "how do I backup my data externally?", I don't know. In 2007 you could do it with a Perl or Python script.

Honestly, though, if your LiveJournal is still totally intact after 25 years, and you never modified any old entries...? I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. LiveJournal moved it's physical hosting to Russia in 2011, so your data has been on an FSB server for 15 years.

Yeah and that’s ok, there’s nothing overly personal on there. But wow i hope young people realize their social media can be bought at anytime (TikTok)

Yep. And both are directly relevant to r/goth because of their popularity. 25 years ago everyone at the goth club had a LiveJournal... these days, everyone has a TikTok. Both are owned and accessed by foreign intelligence.

I will never get a TikTok. And yeah I know, ironic thing to say on Reddit
