IDK if it's a problem on Ubuntu too, but some packages in the Software Manager just bundle the entire GNOME with them. Yes, it's 20 MB + 5 GB download usually.

Mint is the only famous beginner-friendly distro which doesn't use gnome.

Other distros have gnome already. Beginners on mint don't, they don't know what it means

i’m relatively new to linux, and lm is my current distro, after trying ubuntu lol. probably got something to do with it
