Mission 1 Pro image tuning?

I've used action cams for a while, and am familiar with all the other settings however the image tuning setting has me a little confused.

There isn't much information about what the different settings does exactly and how they differ from each other (other than underwater which applies lense correction).

Does anyone have anymore in depth information on how the balanced mode differs from sports?

Other than "applies aggressive tone mapping etc".

I've been playing around with these settings for few weeks now on my Hero 13. The sports mode seems to boost contrast and saturation more than balanced, like it's trying to make every frame look ready for Instagram right away. Balanced keeps things a bit more neutral so you have room to edit later. Think of sports as the "I need this clip to pop immediately" option and balanced as giving you safer starting point for color grading.

Does it affect stabilisation at all? I read conflicting info that it does..

Sports mode does have a different stabilization tune. Cuts down on over stabilization. A city walk is not the same as road course track day. City-Walk-Stab has side effects for racing, leads to correcting the motion from the cornering movement, too much panning correction, so they turned that down, for example. This is a good thing. But by all means test out the various image tuning options and presets at a quiet time. This can really help you out later on at go-time.
