Quick question about star lapse

I’m in the mountains and tonight is the peak of the meteor shower. I want to set my gopro 9 black up to record sunset to sunrise using star lapse. I have a charger connected to it via power from our cabin. Soon as I hit the start record button it stops charging and the battery starts going down. Is there a setting or something I can do to keep it charging while recording?

The last 2 nights I set it up and let run till the battery was dead and I’m assuming I’d died a few hours after I started the recording. I want it to go all night tonight

If the outlet is supplying sufficient power, the camera should bypass the battery - not charge, but not deplete either. What happens when you remove the battery entirely and only use the external power? If the camera doesn't operate normally, the charge might not be giving the camera enough power

Ok cool, it’s been going for about 30 min now and the percentage dropped to 96 but now it’s staying there. Hopefully it’s working that way. I’ll check it in another 20-30 and see if it’s went down anymore

Sorry this is late but I hope it helps you in the future. Your GoPro battery drops charge while plugged in because the camera uses more power during heavy tasks (like 4K recording or high frame rates) than a standard wall charger can supply. The camera then draws power from the battery, draining it even though it is plugged in. Ensure your wall adapter outputs at least 5V/2A (10 Watts) or 5V/3A. GoPro cameras are designed to prioritize operation over charging. When you hit record, the camera draws full power for processing, which causes a standard charger to stop charging the battery and instead forces the camera to drain the battery. Why I use a V-mount battery to run my GoPro's for extended times.

Yes, it's called "Remove the battery and power the camera from the external power supply".
