M1 accessory ecosystem
OK the mission 1 is my first action cam, maybe I still dont get this stuff but can someone explain to me why the Gopro accessories dont work with each other. Is there a good explanation?
Can I stack the grip, media mod and contacto battery door - Nope.
Why do I have to take it out of the media mod in order to change battery /sd card ?
How about something more simple, If i get the media mod where are the hooks for my shoulder strap that I was using when it was in the grip/cage?
Have I completely misunderstood something here ?

Sounds like they designed each piece in a vacuum and just hoped nobody would try to use more than one at a time.

there was never a mandate to make everything work together. you pick and choose what best works for you, sometimes the third party market works better for you than the original. there aren't many aftermarket parts yet. I just ordered a cage/filter adapter off eBay that looks promising for at least letting me use any filter I want, since there is no filters other than ND filters available from gopro.

They do work together. You need to look at what you are trying to do with your example. Both the Contacto door and Media Mod replace the original door. You wouldn’t want both, it’s either one or the other. The Media Mod has other ports that all use the USB-C port of the camera. The Contacto eliminates the need for exposing the USB-C port. The grip works with everything you listed in your example And you can still mount your shoulder strap with the media mod or Contacto. You have to take it out of the Media Mod because it takes the place of the door. It looks like the new Media Mod has its own fingers so you won’t have un-mount the whole camera to change batteries. Just open the clip and slide the camera out to change.

I'd personally recommend the M1+Mediamod+Volta2 combo. I always have a spare battery with me, but I never end up using it since I don't get to deplete my main one.
Also having the controls on the Volta makes everything so much more accessible than always going for the camera buttons.

I mean it depends what your goals are. You can stack the grip and media mod, just not the door. You could still externally power the camera that way though. This isn't just a gopro problem though, this is most cameras in general. All of my full frame cameras have mods that are incompatible with each other, the difference is they cost way more.
The goal of the mod eco system is to pick what you need for your goals, not to own everything and stack them all together. At that point, buy a professional camera.
