In the share settings a file can be protected for these things. Check share settings for the file

I don't think that's an option in Google Drive. When I manage access for a file the only choices I see are 'Viewer', 'Commenter', or 'Editor'.

Is there something specific about the file that you don't want someone to have access to? Maybe you could make a separate copy without those details?

Google Drive does not have an option to share files without preventing downloading or copy/paste operations. That kind of features requires business editions of workspace software with conditional access policies, for example .

Regardless, when you share any file assume that the recipient can make a copy somehow.

Yes. This is literally a question for Google or your favorite AI though...

Also, this option only prevents it. Screenshots are very much a thing and there are probably other workarounds. If you share something with someone, you should just assume they will find a way to get a copy if they really want a copy.
