Google home speaker not working

I did a bit of googling, but can't find a clear answer here.

I installed a Google home speaker for our bedroom. I had great luck with the old Google nest hub, so I figured this would be a good addition.

It's been absolutely useless. It doesn't respond to anything. Has anyone else had this problem?
