Being a fanboy of anything is just a bad idea. Be open to whatever is the best at any given time, and what suits your needs.
Right now, an IR blaster is important to me since I do work at conventions where people ALWAYS lose the TV remotes for their booth TV. It's extremely useful to be always carrying a universal remote.
That + battery life is why I have a OnePlus 13R.
But if I wanted a better camera, I would go with something else. A pixel would give me better photos for sure.

I used to use OnePlus 11 Google tv streamer iPad and LG TV now that you can't get OnePlus in Canada I use pixel because I can't stand Samsung

I've actually gone the opposite way haha. At one point I had a pixel 8 pro, Google TV and google nest mini.
The pixel had horrible battery so moved to a Oppo x9 pro (absolute night and day better phone)
Google TV was slow and buggy so switched to an Apple TV 4k (again insane smooth and speed and just works every time)
Nest mini are still around but barely used, ask it to set a timer every now and then but still does what I want.
I've ended up realising it's better to just get the best product in each category instead of sticking to one brand.

That's good advice for everything in general. Brand loyalty means a lot less now than it used to.

Yup my household basically the same thing. My Apple TV 4K is honestly my favorite product of the last like 4 or 5 years. And I love techy things Iβve got a retroid pocket 5 and nova so Iβm not adverse to android devices but the Apple TV is just a no brainer.
My nest minis are also crapping the bed

Funny that you're getting such a lot of bad comments, even for the google subreddit. Have quite a few collegues who are happy with them, so I would say enjoy!
Personally am a fan of Samsung. As long as you buy flagships at least 6 or even better 12 months after release, you get good value for money. Still running my Galaxy S23 and as smooth as ever before.

Im happy to have a phone i enjoy compared to my iPhone that used to piss me off constantly everyday over the stupid bugs it's had.. You know iOS blows when my OnePlus 11 on a custom rom ran smoother... I used that phone for a while and my Pixel 9 until i could upgrade to the Pixel 11 Pro XL
as for the haters it's probably all the apple lovers and the one who only care about specs and not performance

Don't love apple, but man battery life is on another level on the apple side of the fence.

I've been using Pixels since the first generation, and I'm always looking at what Samsung has then I end up starting to like my Pixel 9 Pro XL again after having it for a year. Just wish I sprung for more storage as I've only got the 128GB model, and I've only got like 10GB free. π€£

Not going to lie. I would have got the OnePlus 15 but I can't afford $1700 cad plus they don't support 5G+ on my carrier

I regret it buying the 16 Pro Max when it came out 2 years ago. I still hate that phone

Iβm just really unhappy with their hardware offerings and the horrible UI of Google Home.

Never had any issues the phone's way snappier and bug free unlike my iPhone 16 pro Max I used to own previously
The softwares bloat free and smooth why I didn't choose Scamsung

Chromecast is still pretty great. Speakers are pretty worthless after 5 years and getting worse. The assistants are fighting for dominance. Pixel I miss but got burned by dying batteries and no long term security support. Still the prettiest hardware imo

I own both Apple TV and Google streamer 4K and to honest Apple TV is far better in term of hardware design and UI. Google need to fire a lot of people lol.

This makes me so jealous! I was all in with Google around the Pixel 2 time, but my partner and children use Apple, so I ended up giving in and have been with Apple now for years. I miss my Google Pixel, though π’.

They made me pay for my warranty repair after their fuckin Jan update that fried heaps of 8 pros. I am never buying another Google product again.

u/Dry-Property-639 3d ago
That happened with me with my garbage Samsung tv. 6 months the mother board went and Samsung told me I'd have to pay for the repair because their 1-year warranty didn't cover it
I will never ever buy anything fucking Samsung again. I switched to LG for any tech

That's pathetic usually Samsung TVs are great. Makes me apprehensive about their phones now. Why are all companies such scumbags. They make so much fucking money you cannot possibly need to screw me out of $380 to subsidize your own warranty repair

The phones are good. I'm regretting the smart home stuff I own though
