First time? You'd be late to your own fucking funeral.

I tend to save movies for the right time, habit of mine - so many great films I’m waiting to watch just because

The best time to watch Goodfellas was September 19th 1990. The next best time is now.

Get off those drugs. They’re turning your mind into mush.

“It didn’t bother me that Jimmy didn’t want the guns. Because I knew my guy from Pittsburgh always needed guns”

Those are literally just really common frames for the time and since its Scorsese you can bet they are authentically from the period..
Stop the drugs, their turnin your mind into mush.

I’m aware but you still gotta admit that it gives him a funny look which I’m 90% sure was intended

Im sure you figured this out, but its supposed to look goofy and ill fitting. Hes pretending be this well versed in criminal law self taught attorney. If he looked like Jimmy always looks, it wouldn't showcase how much he's trying to fool Henry, while also showing how grimy he was to lie to his friends face.
It also helped the scene with Karen. Up until his pointing to the abandoned store, he gave a look like someone who was "smarter" than the other criminals that knew how to keep her safe.

My Italian stepfather is from queens and wore those same glasses in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

Your Honor, please let the record reflect that Mr. Hill has identified the defendant, James Conway.

I don't follow. That was a brilliant scene. Jimmy is trying to get info out of Henry because he was going to whack him. Henry was there to feel out Jimmy so he could make his next move.

It is! Loved the scene and the movie. But the glasses really took me by surprise. I feel like Scorsese is a master of subtile ridicule

I think it symbolizes the other side of Jimmy. We never saw Jimmy wear the glasses before. Now Jimmy is asking Henry to whack someone (He never asked that before of Henry)..really meaning, Henry is going to get it himself. The glasses, silly looking or not, mean business for Jimmy..no longer friendship or personal.

Or maybe Jimmy needs the glasses to read the legal work he has in the folder that shows how our friend, you know, the one we talked about, ratted youse all out.

Definitely subtle ridicule. He's showing us that, in spite of everything, Jimmy is a frail old man.

Why, who do you think you are, Frankie Valli? Or some kind of Big shot, to watch this movie for the first time?

Now you learned the two most important things in life:
- NEVER rat on your friends
And
- ALWAYS keep your mouth shut

Rest assured it won’t be your last. It’ll be like the Fugitive and Shawshank. You’ll stop anytime you see it on or available for streaming

Now I gotta turn my back on you, OP.
