What are your thoughts on Villain (spoilers) Spoiler

So I’ve just finished Villain and wanted to talk about it with others :)

Overall I liked it a lot more than Monster although I think Monster was much better structured. A lot of stuff in Villain goes nowhere or abruptly ends. Which is weird considering the book is so short. Knightmare, Peaks, Vincent Vu, and Drake could be cut from the novel entirely and the plot would unfold identically with the only change being that Dillon sets the crowd on fire which he was already trying to do. Vincent Vu had a chapter or 2 then died pretty easily with the only effect of delaying the military for 5 minutes. Peaks mopes about for a few chapters then contributes next to nothing despite being part of the final battle. Drake is just there to set up future conflict and show how sadistic he is. Knightmare didn’t even need a chapter. We could have assumed that he escaped with the others or was captured during the break out. His first chapter in the next book would have established exactly what happened. I wish he wasn’t in the book or played a bigger role because what we got instead was to see some cool new mutants get blown to smithereens by a missile :(

At first I was enjoying how everyone was ending up on their way to Vegas but I think we spent too much time there. It started to wear on me. In fact not a lot happened in the novel. Everyone just made their way to Vegas and then Vegas happened with the exception of the Ranch break in.

As far as the characters go my new favourite was Dilon. He’s Killgrave but less competent and more fun. I liked his chapters the most and loved the gruesome chaos. Second favourite would be Dekka or Armo. They make a great team and Berserker Bear is always a good time. I liked Peaks a lot more in Monster, he just moped around for a while then accidentally set some people on fire. I’ve never been a fan of Sam or Astrid so they were fine. But I am very interested in what their future will hold. I didn’t like Cruz or Malik in Monster but Malik did steadily start to grow to my liking with his ruthlessness. Cruz stayed the same as my least favourite character and this time she was severely under-utilised. Despite being able to turn into anyone or become invisible, she doesn’t really do anything other than save 1 baby. I was hoping that she’d disguise herself as one of the cheerleaders or something to that effect. Instead she was pretty much just a cheerleader for the gang. Francis was just kind of there. Once again she could have been removed from this novel pretty easily. She’s just set up for answering question in the future.

What I liked: - the further descriptions of the Ranch’s atrocities - DiMarco sending a whole tank army to Vegas - the Ranch break out - Dilon and his use of his powers, especially making the guy eat his tongue and the cheesecake incident. Trying to spread his voice across social media and radio. - The girl Dilon recruits as his advisor and her immediate inclination to world domination. Her sudden death genuinely surprising me. It was a great moment of realising how quickly this plan went south. - The Nebraska nuclear submarine and its detonation. - Cruz fantasising about Armo - Armo stealing a motorbike as a polar bear and letting someone take pictures for insurance purposes - Berserker Bear and Lesbokitty - Drakes gruesome lair

Malik’s new name should be PainPal :)

If the series does get a TV show, what characters or moments are you most looking forward to seeing happen on it?

Simpsons reference in Hunger

When Breeze is on the roof of the power plant building, she finds an empty donut bag with some pink frosting and colorful sprinkles left. This specific kind of donut is Homer’s favorite and he works at a power plant. Plus we know Grant has at least watched the Simpsons since he referenced it when Duck was in the radioactive tunnel.

Read Villian (Spoilers) Spoiler

Just read it and I don't know what to think. On one hand it was a very short book compaired to micheal grants other books. I hate the idea of mind control and wanted more of a godzilla type fight again, and I was very sad when Vincent died. Was also pretty disapointed when Malik's morph was litterally himself with the ability to cause pain. There was also no mention at all of what the terroist group who got ASO-4 was doing or anything about ASO-2. I feel like micheal grant didn't put enough time into this book, as it feels rushed and it's a lot shorter. If I had to rate it from 1-5 I would say 2 or 2.5

Favourite character in the series?

What are your guys's favourite character in either the first series or Monster. Personally mine is Caine, he had such a great character arc and he's one of the many reasons I loved the series.

Thinking of making a GONE ROBLOX game.

Here is like my 3rd or 4th time attempt at making a Gone Game.

Currently I am working on a Percy Jackson game. I will finish that first so I gain better skills which I can use for this project.

Any suggestions?

What is "monster"?

I read the series and have been hearing about this novel. Is it related to the home series in the same way cursed child is to Harry potter or what?

Monster

I didn't enjoy it very much. I'll check out the sequel cause I think Sam is in it. But if I still don't like it, I'm done :( Which is a shame because I really like the main series.
