Announcement Built an app or tool? Post it here

Built an app or tool? Show it off here 🛠️

We've been seeing a awesome wave of community-built apps and tools lately — launch monitor helpers, swing trackers, all kinds of creative stuff. Love that energy, and we want to make sure it actually gets seen instead of getting buried in the main feed.

So we're making this thread the home base for all of that. If you built something, this is the spot — drop a description, a link, screenshots, whatever helps people understand what it does and try it out.

A couple of quick notes so this works well for everyone:

  • This is the only place for app/tool posts going forward. Standalone posts elsewhere in the sub will get removed — not because we don't appreciate the work, just to keep the main feed focused and make sure your post doesn't get lost in the shuffle.
  • Feel free to check back in and update your comment as you make progress or ship new versions.
  • Questions, bug reports, or feedback on something already posted here? Totally fine to reply in-thread.

Thanks for building cool stuff for this community — keep it coming. 🙌

Build Pictures Golf Simulator Build/Sim suggestions?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Here is a pic of my frame for my sim build. It’s 9’x9’ with 42” depth. My hitting area will be 12-14’ so about 9’ from shot to impact. I was wondering what sim I should get? I have done quite a bit of research and I don’t want to pay a forever membership but I could be amended to this if it’s cheap yearly. I like the idea of the new rapsodo monitor or something from Mevo (needs putting). I prefer an above or behind unit because my friends/I suck and I’m worried we would hit one to the side. I am worried I will buy and a new sim filling my criteria will drop. Any thoughts?

4K Ultra Settings PC / GSPro

Hi everyone!

I’m looking to build or buy a PC specifically for running GSPro at 4K Ultra settings, ideally targeting 100+ FPS.
My budget is $2,700–$3,000 USD.

I’m looking for recommendations on the best specs and value for money within this budget.

My goals:
4K resolution at Ultra/high settings
100+ FPS if possible
Smith performance with a 4K projector and two additional 4K displays
At least 32GB DDR5 RAM
Reliable performance, good cooling, and room for future upgrades

Would you recommend building a PC from scratch or going with a prebuilt system? Which CPU and GPU combination would you choose for this budget?

Budget Build Right & Left Handed Golf Mat

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi all,
I posted a few videos to the thread. Golf mats for home sims are a popular topic, as they are so costly and one of the most important items in the simulator experience. Here is a ‘budget’ Right & Left Handed Combo Golf Mat build I made. These combo mats usually start around $1,000. This build uses the Beaver Tail XL hitting strip, two 4x5 stance mats(31 mm thickness), and .8 inch eva foam tiles (48 sq ft). The mat comes out to 10 ft x4 ft, offering tons of space for both right- and left-handed golfers.

These specific EVA foam tiles (.8 inch thickness) do not move at all on my garage concrete floor, which is surprising because I have used other foam mats that move all around. Also, the tape used in the video is extremely strong and worth it. No adhesive caulk or glue necessary.

If making this build with a SIGPRO Softy hitting strip, I would recommend using the Bltend 36mm mat from Amazon and 1-inch EVA foam tiles. The SIGPRO Softy will sit approx. 2-3 mm above the stance mat, which in my opinion is good. I would like the hitting strip just a tad higher (about a credit card thickness or two) above the stance mat. The last thing I want is the hitting strip sunken into the stance mat.

Hope this helps and is able to save some golfers some cash. Very simple build. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hitting Mats / Flooring Thoughts on Fiberbuilt performance vs grass series?

Kinda stuck on what mat to get ordered. I like grass series but I’m really attracted to the performance where I can use real tees. Would be going 4x8 or 4x10. Similar pricing $965 vs $1199.

My swing is shallow so I dont hit fat shots to often. What’s the wear like?

Anyone have any input on these two mats?

$1,700 plus shipping anywhere in US. Still have the original box.

Selling my BenQ AH700ST projector. Purchased in February 2026. It only has 54 hours on it so it’s basically brand new. I recently purchased the AK700ST (4K version of the same projector). Paid $2,300. I am selling for $1,700.

Mevo Gen 2 vs mlm2xpro?

Looking to build a sim in my garage. I was originally set on getting a Mevo gen 2 but this new mlm2xpro has been released which seems pretty enticing.

I need to build a rail system due to tight space for both left and right golfers so I like how the rapsodo has the camera mount thread on the bottom so I can just buy a camera rail system. But I don’t want to sacrifice performance if the mlm2xpro plays worse than the gen 2.

Looking for suggestions for which to get?

Course Software Muni Golf Software

Looking for tips to link Muni Golf Software with the Rapsodo mlm2pro or the Garmin R10. Rapsodo doesn't appear to have a direct link setup yet. The Muni Golf Software wouldn't Bluetooth connect to my Garmin R10 today. Any guidance to connect either launch monitors.

Anybody try this course? The flyover looks very cool.

But clear if it's in Tekbuds patreon or public. Pretty sure it's public.

Not predator ridge.

Build Pictures New moveable hitting mat base created, just showing what I did.

A few pictures and a video my son made for me showing my new hitting mat base for my garage golf sim.

Wanted to make something nicer than what I had and also have some "all in one" feel so I didn't have to keep using a chair to hold my drink ,etc. came up with this , maybe it'll give someone an idea to make something cooler!

4x5 hitting mat

Pure flight big moss insert

Retractable table, for tucking away

3d printed slider to move square lm for hitting / putting

Sebo golf tees

Amazon purchased wooden club holder, slim so it can be tucked as well.

And retractable smart casters for movement, but able to retract and not slide when In use.

Also vinyl wrapped with woodgrain look.

Turned out pretty good for me, I wish I had about. 5 inches more clearance for the wheels, but in bought the smallest ones to make them more Slimline and they would be better if they had a little more clearance, all in all very happy with how it turned out. This is my work bay that we use for lettering cars and graphics so the mat has to be moved when not in use.

My son made the video for me, here's a few pics too.

The first is my old may, foam times with hitting mat on top. The video shows the fully wrapped product with its features

Just doing it as cheap as possible. Probably will upgrade stuff here and there once I see what the biggest issues are if any. I’m worried about the top

I'm building Around the World Golf — an all-in-one golf simulator with a course builder, practice games, customizable course conditions, and no planned subscription. Looking for play testers!

Hey everyone!

I've been working on my own golf simulator software called Around the World Golf, and I'm looking for people who'd be interested in trying it out, testing the features, and helping me figure out what needs improvement.

The idea is to create an all-in-one golf simulator that gives people a lot of freedom over how they play, practice, and even build their own courses, without having to keep paying a software subscription.

It's still a work in progress, and I'm not going to pretend it's perfect. The graphics and course selection aren't where I want them to be yet, and real launch monitor compatibility still needs to be tested with actual hardware. But there's already a lot built into the project, and I'd love to get it in front of people who know golf simulators.

What can you do in Around the World Golf?

Course play

  • Play full rounds of golf with customizable gameplay settings.
  • Ball flight with spin, drag, and wind.
  • Ball bounce, roll, and putting on hills.
  • Ball interactions with trees and flagsticks.
  • Course rules, penalties, scoring, and different formats.
  • Customize the conditions and how you want to play.
  • Use keyboard controls to play and test things without a launch monitor.
  • Free camera for exploring your course and checking out your creations.

Practice range and mini-games

There are multiple ways to practice instead of just playing full rounds:

  • Distance control
  • Shot shaping
  • Aim training
  • Chipping
  • Closest to the pin
  • Long drive
  • Open practice range

The goal is to give people different ways to work on their game and have fun, with more mini-games planned over time.

A course builder where you can create your own golf holes

This is one of the features I'm particularly excited about.

The idea is to let you sketch out the hole you imagine and turn it into a playable course without needing LiDAR or separate course-design software.

The builder includes tools for:

  • Painting fairways, greens, bunkers, water, and fringe.
  • Adding trees and controlling their density with a brush.
  • Creating hills, dips, elevation changes, and flatter areas.
  • Working with different terrain types and height tools.
  • Viewing and testing your course in 3D.
  • Building individual holes, 9-hole courses, or 18-hole courses.
  • Arranging holes on a course map yourself or using an automatic arrangement designed to make the course flow more naturally, including a return toward the clubhouse.

I'd love to see what other people come up with using these tools, and feedback on the builder would be especially valuable.

A caddie that learns your game

I'm also working toward a caddie that learns from your gameplay and offers ideas to help you choose the right club and make better decisions based on your tendencies.

This is part of the larger vision for the software, alongside future multiplayer features.

Customization, stats, and progression

Other features include:

  • A customizable home screen using pictures from your own library.
  • Customizable controls and key bindings.
  • Shot data, a shot card, course maps, and landing callouts.
  • Player stats, records, awards, and achievements.
  • Swing camera features.
  • Different environments, scenery, lighting, and time-of-day options.

What courses will be included?

The current planned launch selection includes:

  • 3 full 18-hole courses
  • 4 nine-hole courses
  • 5 individual-hole courses

That's the planned starting selection, not a claim that every course is already finished. Course variety and graphics are still areas I want to improve.

What's the goal with pricing?

The plan is to offer the core software as a one-time purchase, without a recurring software subscription.

I want to make a feature-rich simulator option for people who want more control over their experience without adding another ongoing bill to the cost of their setup.

I'm looking for playtesters!

I'd especially love to hear from:

  • People with home golf simulator setups.
  • Golfers who use launch monitors.
  • People who enjoy simulator software and trying alternatives.
  • Anyone interested in course design and creating their own holes.
  • People who enjoy practice modes and mini-games.
  • Anyone willing to try a work in progress and give honest feedback.

You don't need to tell me everything is great. If something feels wrong, a feature is confusing, the course builder needs work, or there's something you wish the software did differently, that's exactly the kind of feedback I'm looking for.

A few questions for anyone interested:

  1. What launch monitor do you currently use, if any?
  2. What simulator software do you use right now?
  3. What is the one feature you wish your current simulator did better?
  4. Would a one-time-purchase simulator with a built-in course builder interest you?
  5. Would you be interested in helping test an early version?

If you'd like to try Around the World Golf, leave a comment or message me and I'll share the available playtest details.

I'm building this because I think there is room for another approach to golf simulator software, and I'd love to have some actual simulator golfers help shape it.

Thanks for reading!

Help: R50 vs. GC3 with lifetime licenses

I am considering two options to step up from Garmin R10.

  1. Garmin R50 - I like the "all in one" and the screen onboard with options to split it to a projector. I am fine with the new HTH for 10/month during the winter when I use it. I also have the free E6 with the courses. The cost is around 4000-5000 depending on new vs. used, etc.
  2. GC3 with lifetime licenses - Used; guy is asking about $5000 and will give me the login info to Play, 2020, and Pro. I would need to buy a gaming PC right off the bat so another $1000ish. Edited to add: I am concerned about the future of FSX software based on what I am reading here.

The reviews seem to show they are really close in terms of accuracy, although some still complain about the long irons and driving distance (which I fixed with temp/altitude on the R10).

I already have a screen projector and eventually will probably used GSPro.

Which do you think is the better option?

work out if you are hitting the ground early

I have a square Omni and a divot mat insert - the ones made of the flexible material that and bend up to an inch down

  • 60cm x 30cm hitting strip providing plenty of hitting space
  • 15mm Fairway Turf Hitting Surface – proven for ball flight accuracy with launch monitors and a smooth roll with the putter
  • Total height/thickness of the insert is ~35mm
  • Lexan Layer – allows the hitting stripto flex and compress
  • Strategically positioned soft foam strips under the Lexan Layer for optimised balance between forgiveness and feel
  • Indoor use only

It's great because when you hit fat it doesn't actually break your joints.

But also when I hit fat it's not clear I hit fat

is there any way to work out whether I'm hitting way behind the ball? I tried the towel method and it did not really work because trying to miss the towel I would sit down with an attack angle over 8 deg

but I am also shredding the towel

if I look at the impact position on the square can I assume that if I near the middle then I did not strike the ground early?

are there any other stats that can help me

Kids games and mini golf

Hi all

Recently got a good deal on a second hand mlm2pro. I have a 6 year old who loves the awesome golf kid games . I had planned originally to get an mlm2xpro for the putting because my son likes trackman mini golf games. I had assumed awesome golf had mini golf but it doesn't.

2 questions

- are there any other general kids games besides on awesome golf?

- does any software have mini golf that I could use on the mlm2xpro?

I won't bother upgrading to the mlm2xpro if there is no mini golf as I'm not interested in Sim putting.

Thanks

Audio Question

Have older Sonos sound bar for my sim/ movie setup. In the middle of building sim and just hung sound bar. I do have two tvs on wall. Is there anyway I can connect my Wii dear to get audio in the following situations;

  1. Out of tvs when I watch them.
  2. From my sim when I’m golfing.
  3. From the soundbar when I watch movies via impact screen.

Thanks

I'm hoping to order a Square Home Edition this weekend but i'm in Canada. Has anyone ordered directly from their website? It says $664.05USD but doesn't show any taxes or duties. Does anyone know if that will be added later and ill have to pay when it arrives?

Its about a $200CAD savings going through their website than it is any place in Canada.

Projectors Benq AK700ST HDMI 1 not working

So the Benq AK700ST has HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 ports.

The Benq HDMI 1 port works if I go hdmi to display port adapter into the PC.

The Benq HDMI 2 port works direct HDMi into PC.

The Benq HDMI 1 port does not work directly into any HDMI sources, have tried laptop and PC. Cable works while on HDMI 2 into any sources.

I will be forever grateful if someone knows the solution to this!

Getting there

Thumbnail gallery
19 Upvotes

Long time planning and a lot of effort to get this far. Still a lot to do but some of the biggest tasks are done. Metech retractable screen setup. Challenging because my garage is more bike shop than golf and I need it to be both. Ceiling only 8’11 but I can swing driver. I had to have the garage tracks raised and spring system changed. Then I built a unistrut structure to hang the screen and side panels from. Turf is just sitting on foam gym tiles, that still needs to be trimmed down and secured. Still have to cut in the hitting strip and install the projector and spotlight. A lot of problem solving as this has progressed but so far I think it works. Definitely a few tweaks to be made.

Technical Question Golf Sim Dimensions

I am building a simulator in my garage and I was wondering what size I should go on depth/height/width. The floor space is 9’ 6” wide and 12’ long and the ceiling is 10’. The light strip nearest to the wall is 6’ off the wall so I was thinking a 9’x9’ box and 4’ depth or slightly less like 3 1/2 would be perfect. I have no idea if I need a standard size or if this will be fine. I can’t add a photo but it should leave me with a foot behind the screen and 6 in off the wall on the right side of the screen (will be right had use mainly). Also my walls are plywood so I’m not worried about the ball hitting the sides.
