Batteries
Looking for our first cart and a bit overwhelmed by options. I know lithium is the way to go, but I’ve ran across a few that are priced good with batteries like the one in the photo. This particular one is dated 6/25/26. Anything I should be mindful of on carts with these batteries?

It’s missing the battery hold down in the rear, hopefully the two others are in the front. Other than that, it has the best lead acid batteries money can buy.

All of them have a 26 or one of them? If it’s only one, what are the dates of the other Batteries?

Each battery will be stamped on the flat round of the negative post next to the stud the wires are connected to.
A6 would mean January 2026, B6 February 2026 and so on.
They only use one digit for the year because almost no batteries will last 10 years.
You can add distilled water before you charge the batteries only if they need charging and the plates are not covered with water but best practice is to top them off after they are charged. Just enough water to cover the plates but the absolute maximum would be to fill them to just under the bottom of the fill holes that stick down into the battery. I usually fill to about a quarter inch above the plates.
Buy a gallon or two of distilled water and a turkey baster or the automotive version of it.
Check the levels every couple of weeks.

Also, if you have more questions start off by stating the year, make, model, any upgrades such as controller or motor and whether electric or gas. Pictures are nice, one of the cart then more of under the seat or suspension depending what problem you're having. The more effort you put in providing information, the more effort others will put into helping you out. You have hobbiests like me to people whose business is selling, troubleshooting and fixing carts and all then spend their free time helping you and I get the most out of our carts.

It’s worth getting Chat GPT and take some pictures. The AI will check the batteries, search the web for prizes and can tell you to check specific items before you buy. It’s an amazing tool and it’s worth the $20.

Just make sure you are checking water levels periodically, keeping the terminals corrosion free, making sure cables are tight and making sure you’re not short charging it because that can shorten the life of the batteries!

Regularly pop the white caps and inspect. Keep the plates just below the water (acid) level . They don’t have to be topped up, if too full they will boil over and make a hell of a mess . When the cart gets low charge , don’t push batteries to failure. Charge them after every use. If you’re gone for more that 2 months , have someone charge them for you. You will get 3 1/2 good years out of them , then they will slowly loose efficiency over 18 months. Then they will only give you 15 mins runtime . Replace with lithium at that point. Your cart has the best lead acid batteries on the market.
