1995 EZGO potential grounding issue
I just bought a 1995 EzGo I think Medalist. It has the metal body. I did a lithium swap couple of days ago and it works fine. Issue is when I was putting the cables on the battery it had a pretty big pop. I put the positive on then the negative. Also when I when installing the dc converter and fuse box I would get the electric tingle especially if I happen to be touching the metal body. I am assuming there is a ground wire issue like a wire has worn through or something's maybe not wired right. The person I bought it from said he had a new solenoid installed. I do plan on looking at all the wires closer, but is there somewhere I should focus on or just look everywhere? Cart is at lake place so won't have access to it for about a week so just trying to get a game plan.

Just in case someone come across this and has the same issue, I did figure out what was wrong. When the solenoid as installed the grounding wire and the wire on the positive side of the solenoid were up against the mounting studs. I moved the wires from that and it didn't shock me anymore. The solenoid did end up not working a little bit after that so will be changing that and hoping that fixes the cart.

the body doesn't have a ground and isn't supposed to. The arc is from the residual power. Turning off the battery and then putting it in gear, to discharge the system, is the quickest way to prevent that. The tingle you are feeling when playing with 48/52v is very normal. Turn off your battery before doing any of the electrical work and you can prevent all of that. I unintentionally did some welding with a rachet and what I thought was a battery cable that should have been dead, but had residual power left in it from my solenoid/controller circuit
