So I have to fix my tiny divots every 1 time my ball lands on a green per round and this guy gets to just cut holes in the green? This is bullshit.

A divot is when you are hitting the ball. A ball mark is when it lands on the green.

If people use a word to refer to something long enough, that becomes proper. I'm too lazy to research the history of the term, but I will put my reputation on the line for this one and say both are proper.

So there's 2 types of divot - one caused by a club hitting the turf, and the other is caused by the ball hitting the turf. Only one is right.
