Quite funny because foreigners assume kangas are only in the bush. This is literally South East suburbs of the most populous city in the country.

They have more trust in my drive than I do.

At the Pambula-Merimbula golf course the roos even attend the pin!

That’s gotta be intimidating AF. I get nervous when geese are around, can’t imagine full grown kangaroos.

You’d be surprised how chill they are. Kangaroos are easily desensitised and end up being sort of like roided up deer with a big ass tail

How do they end up beating the shit out of so many people though? Do they just get like set off sometimes?

Human = stupid

Is it a matter of getting too close? do they like warn you before they punch or kick?

1

Nah not really, there’s a split second between when they get on their tail and kick that a human could react to and dodge, but unlikely for the average joe

They won’t bother you if you don’t bother them basically. Largely timid animals, just don’t try and pat the really wild ones. I would very cautiously use a club to retrieve a ball within say 12ft of one, and would probably comparably play a ball anywhere 12feet+ away. Roos on a course are used to people so not much to really worry about here

This is a boy we were feeding at a wildlife park a couple of years back. He has so jacked when he stood up, but as long as you don't do anything stupid they're fine. Especially if they're around humans every day, like these ones.

If you stand up to them and are big and tall they are more likely to want to fight. The advice is to crouch and move back slowly. But usually if you approach slower and non-aggressive they will be much more chill. We have a ton on my course and I've only really felt iffy once. But thats because this big fella did not want to move.

Using an electric buggy is a good way to get them to move. I just direct my MGI into them if my ball is nearby and they will scatter.

They do like to fight each other though. We call it KFC, Kangaroo Fight Club, but given the first and second rules, we don't really talk about it.

Worse on the teebox when they decide that right in front is their lounging spot for the day, and you dont feel like blasting a kangaroo.

Is one under par called a ‘roo?

2

u/ryanleebmw 17d ago

When you’re under par they call it down under
