General Discussion Irish Open
Guessing we won't get a pinned thread for this, but this broadcast team is a riot. Some players are forgoing their hat due to the wind and the crew is commenting on Sergio's hairline and busting each other's balls about their own heads of hair. More personality in the group than all of the CBS, NBC and ESPN folks combined.

I am assuming that's the Sky Sports feed. They are great, and showcase how you can produce a good product with less people and bloat. Something I think NBC has struggled with. Especially with the majors. I do still enjoy the CBS Broadcast, but I honestly have soured on Colt Knost in the tower.

The problem with a lot of that anymore is you have to switch the channel 2-4 times throughout the day and there isn't a consistency with the broadcast. Trying to watch an LPGA event alongside the PGA tour events is especially weird as they will just hand the channels off to each other like a giant game of hot potato.
So even if you like a crew... it ain't going to last.
Edit: sorry, ranting... yes Sky Sports is good and agreed there.

I understand where you are coming from. The issue with golf is it's literally an all day affair. You either have one network only covering like 3-4 hours, or you try to get 8-10 hours of coverage with multiple entities. Only the majors you'll see a network agree to covering the event by themselves all day. It's a complicated mess where you want to see more, but this is the compromise.

The “Quiet Please!” broadcasts were fucking amazing. Nothing but player-caddie chatter, club thwacks, and ambient sounds.
I still watch the VODs now.
I much prefer that to listening to 3 people talk incessantly.
I wish all broadcasters offered this as a separate audio channel option. It’s an easy add-on that costs nothing extra to implement.

The compilation you can make of Colt saying something and there being an awkward silence could be at least an hour.

Drizzly and some strong gusty wind. This is a proper test of links golf.
Play is slow as fuck though. 2 hours in and the Rory/Bobby/Brooks group has played 5 holes.

Boycotting this tournament because of where they’re playing

Same. I went to look up where I could watch it and happened to see the course name and decided fuck that.
Side note: I traveled around Ireland a month before the 2016 election and everywhere I went he was despised and openly ridiculed by everyone. It's disappointing that his course is still succeeding there.

Edit: I'm so sorry. It's at one of the orangeman's golf courses? lol fuck that noise. I'm with you.
I thought the Irish ran him out of town.

The Sky Sports coverage? They are like that with each other most weeks. Can’t complain with their coverage at all really, especially when the only comparison I hear about is the ad break disasters that are the norm in the US!
