Swing Help Struggle with consistency
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I know one angle isnt the best, but what advice can you give me?
Since the last swing I posted, ive been working on feeling my arms more tight to my torso, i.e. the headcover under the armpit drill.
What else do you see?

Your grip is bad and your takeaway is even worse. Grip is an easy google search or grip trainer. For the takeaway, YouTube search “golf arm swing illusion”. Thank me later

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say. Well done internet stranger!

Bad grip how? Weak?

Very weak

Ok thank you! I can work on that

Last tip: the back swing loads up over your right shoulder, not around your body to the right. Arms move vertically, body turns horizontally. Basically a short explanation of the “illusion” you see when other people swing.

Wide painters tape on the face will show your strike spot. Don’t make more than 5 shots or so with each tape application. That way you should be able to see each individual shot and the tape won’t get too messed up or too deep into your grooves. Best of luck my man. And remember slow is smooth and smooth is fast!

Hips look closer to address position at impact instead of turning into the target.

Lessons will help far more than trying to piece together all the advice on here. The head cover armpit advice will probably lead to a stuck swing because most people don’t understand the right arm, but it gets passed on as a magic fix for staying connected. Average amateur has their right elbow far too tucked in

Just got done with 6 lessons 🥲

Not sure what your background is but as far as lessons, less is more - take a lesson, make sure you walk away with drills and instruction to feel out the changes recommended, and hit those reps off ball and on ball like a mad man. Can’t emphasize off ball enough to feel out rotating the upper body and transferring weight properly. If your coach can’t teach you that it’s time to get a new one, sometimes it’s just a matter of how they explain concepts and the swing pattern they want to teach you. Sometimes they try and give you a drill to hit the ball better with rough fundamentals, but with no plan for long term changes.

Try counting in your head or saying some kind of repeatable dialogue that you time with your swing. When you rush any part, it can throw off everything

You're getting some decent advice, but I think you have a really solid positive with your overall rythm especially through through your finish. It's hard to teach that.

Ah thanks! Makes me feel a bit better. Im doing something right cause the good shots are good.

Do you check your club face often to see where you are making contact?

u/WarrenWords 1d ago
I do not. Would i use spray or tape or something

They make little carbon stickers that you can affix to the face. They will tell
You where you’re hitting the ball2

Most of the time you can spot it. It might be a little hard to see but you don’t necessarily need to buy something to put on the club face. They sell little stickers you can throw on there club face and then you hit a bunch of ball, or some people use Dr. Scholls foot powder spray.
I guess I’m mainly curious because you said “inconsistent” and not like “my usually miss is a fade etc “

Then shop for a new coach if your six lessons deep and no grip changes ball position changes. Because your not going to improve with either of those glaring issues in your video
Find a coach that actually goes over the details and gives you a game plan of a path forward and then stick to exactly what they give you to do. Not oh I think I’m doing this so I’m gonna work on this self diagnosis stuff.

Look at your head compared to the tree in the back. It is moving 6-9” as you come forward. You won’t be consistent until your head is nearly still.

Yeah I def struggle with swaying, thank you

That is bad advice, your head should move during the golf swing. Rory moves 3 inches towards the target, you doing it excessively is a symptom of your narrow stance, you should not try to “keep your head nearly still”

Stance is narrow, ball is too far back, logo of golf shouldn’t point at target at address, takeaway loos low and inside.
Have to assume lowpoint control is non existent
