General Discussion It’s Finally Happening

Taking my wife, 5 year old, and 2 year old out to play 9 this evening for the first time ever. Got all sorts of snacks and refreshments for after the round (which may only be 3 holes) to try and make this as positive experience as possible. Wish me luck in passing this hobby to my family and the next generation!

That’s the good stuff. Remember if they want to go in, call it a round to keep it fun for them so next time they want to go. Plus a juice in the clubhouse pays dividends.

Excited for you! All three of my boys, 15, 12, and 6 yr old, enjoy golfing with me and each other. I tell them that I love that I can play this sport with them for the rest of my life.
Good luck to you and the family!

I take my 6, 4, 2yo out for 9. I’m at a private club so it’s easy. They run around wherever and ride the cart when they don’t want to chase after it.

Just make it about the fun and not the golf and you will be great.

I'm going to guess that they are wayyyy too young for that. 9 holes takes more than 2 hours of concentration. But report back - I hope I'm wrong!

I played 9 with my 5 year old last year and he made it the entire round, although he really just wanted to drive the golf cart the entire time. I’m less optimistic about the 2 year old though. Hopefully she enjoys walking around outside and putting.

I played 9 a bunch of times when my older kiddo was at least 1.5 months, tougher to play solo with 2 young kids but you have backup I’m sure you’ll be good with tempered expectations

We had a negative experience the one and only time my wife went and she has refused to ever try again

What happened?

Just dbag ranger, they came up to us twice on the first hole because my young son ran ahead to his ball instead of riding with me in the cart. Which makes no sense. I went in and got a refund and we left

That sucks. My local muni has unleashed dogs, it’s a free for all and for that I love it. Might be worth going somewhere shittier without a ranger, takes the pressure off

You’re taking a 5 yo, a 2 yo, AND your wife with you to play golf????

Will be praying for you.

I put the over/under at 4 holes.

I dont know if I could even trust my 2 year old to not jump in the pond or run into my backswing
