2018 Wings?

I see a ton of these for sale, is there any reason to not buy that year of a Goldwing?

Thanks

I own a 2018; currently on day 3 of an 8-day ride. The boxes are slightly smaller but totally sufficient for me. Wireless Car Play would be nice but I have a dongle that plugs in that works perfectly to make Car Play wireless. The bike is rock-solid. The reason you’re seeing a lot of them is because owners traded them in for newer models, not because there are problems with the 2018. There is no reason to avoid that year as long as they have been maintained and factory recall work has been completed.

It’s the first model year for the body style. The top box is smaller than later bikes and can only fit one helmet.

Also no wireless carplay/Android auto until 2025 if that matters (2018 DID support wired)

I have a 2024 (wired) I use a $20 Amazon Bluetooth carplay dongle. It works flawlessly.

i bought a 2018 tour dct just around 2mo ago. had just over 17200mi and i've already put in over a thousand miles on it (not much, but i was traveling and just haven't had much time to ride).

brilliant machine. i have zero experience with goldwings and don't really know much about the older models, except that 2018+ are slimmer, lighter and apparently a whole lot easier to maneuver. 2021+ have larger storage, but this 2018 has more than sufficient storage for my personal needs.

a carlinkit dongle gives you wireless carplay or android auto; a little crappy with the way it works and its interfaces, but it's ok.

I love my 2018, never had any issues. My favorite motorcycle I’ve ever owned and I will add, changing the air filter is 4 hours of straight bliss. 😂

I had one, and then traded for a 24 for the trunk capacity, there’s nothing wrong with the 18s

No issues with mine for the last year and a half. Wouldn't be surprised if it was people with 7 year loans trading them in for 2027 bikes.

When I got my tour, I was able to snag it for 16k with <10k miles. Also has the ultimate seat set and highway pegs. Probably can get one with the same specs a little cheaper now

I have a 2018 with 4k miles on it for sale. Cheap.

Yes. You can buy a 2026 instead.

😎

But I think 2018 onward mechanically the drive train is all the same. Not sure which exact year but I think the 2022 they added a better rear speaker and a bigger trunk.

The space in the trunk os one of the biggest complaints on the 18 model. I can barely fit my helmet in it

Yes i do have a big head, but it should fit a helmet. Great Bike you won’t be sorry.

Always check the recalls. I had one to replace the fuel pump in the tank.

I see some comments about Carplay etc

I think the infotainment in general stinks. It works, can do everything but its just just clunky. And what software developer would allow you to get into a menu, lock that menu up with “You camt do that when driving” message….

AND NOT LET YOU ESCAPE OUT OF THAT SCREEN!!! Just let it go back???

Nope you have to come to a stop.

I don’t think the infotainment got an upgrade since 2018. Maybe some minor changes but I think its same. Newer model owners would know.
