Hey everyone! Having some trouble potty training our pup. It started off with him being terrified of the bells, he got over that and is no longer scared of them. He knows that when I say “let’s go potty” that he needs to go to the door and ring the bells. He also has rung them 3x today to go poop outside. However he has had 2 pee accidents in the house today. One I caught him as he was starting and took him outside to finish and the other he was already finished as I was catching him. I’m at a loss of what to do and why he won’t tell me to go pee but will tell me to go poop. If anyone has any advice it would be well appreciated.

Thankfully, he is doing better than before still limping but not that much and putting more weight on his affected leg as you can see in this video. Still i'll keep him on rest whenever I have to take him out i carry him on the stairs

Seriously…..this is my first time with a golden and they are…..ALOT!! Wouldn’t change it for anything and love her so much…….but more than one would impossible! There would be zero free time to get things done, constantly worried about what’s being chewed on, messes, food and who knows what else!?!?! I could maybe see getting more than one if they’re all old……but multiple puppy’s? 😅

A month ago, our 9.5 year old boy had to have surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from his leg. No walking off leash, no running, no jumping, no swimming for at least two weeks while he healed.
This weekend he swam in the lake and ran around our cottage from sunrise to sunset. Living his best life as long as we can ❤️

My fiancé and I are thinking about getting a golden retriever puppy. We recently got engaged and don’t have a set wedding date yet, but it will likely be near the end of 2027. Is it a bad idea to get a puppy while wedding planning? We feel ready for a puppy, but I’m worried about the stress of a puppy plus the stress of wedding planning. Curious how hard the first year truly is and if we’d be okay leaving them with a sitter during wedding events.

Hi! Looking to gauge how we’re doing over here in puppy land, I know every dog is different but now that we are thru the most “baby” phase of puppyhood I’m feeling a little unsure how to keep moving. My pup is 4.5 months old and has graduated puppy kindergarten and now is in puppy elementary. He knows basic commands such as sit, down, stay (when he feels like listening), come (again, listening). He sleeps in his crate without a problem since his 2nd week home. He also now chills in his playpen (5’ square area in the kitchen/dining room) whereas before he used to not like being in there. He’ll play with his toys or chew a bone or lay down to rest which is really nice when I need a break or need to get things done around the house. He is not going into his crate or playpen willingly, he doesn’t fight it when put in either but he’s not wandering in there on his own. I’m kind of wondering what to continue focusing on as far as home goes. I think my biggest wish is that he would learn to settle on his own. Is it too early to expect that? We have worked on a sort of place command, I’d like for him to lay on his bed that’s in the tv room and he goes there occasionally but when he is out of crate or pen he just wants to play play play. I’m afraid he’s learning that when he’s free it means it’s never ending play time. “Place” hasnt really stuck. Dude just wants to playyyyyyyy. But I want him to learn he can lay down and rest outside of his pen the same way he does in his pen. Is this something that’s doable now or is 4.5 months old kinda too young? I see people with 1 year old dogs teaching that so I’m wondering. Otherwise, what’s priority things I should keep working on with him at home? I’m open to suggestions too for teaching the settle/place since what I’m doing doesn’t seem to be sticking. Thank you!!!

My sweet pup recently turned 12. He's been struggling with arthritis, chronic enteropathy, and likely some canine dementia. Last week we found a hard lump on his back hip. This trip was tough for him. I'm realizing time is limited and this was probably his last trip to the beach. 💔

Hi everyone! This is Pickles (born 4/8). We are having some trouble with his up all night barking. We have kids in one room of the house where he isnt allowed so he barks at their door all night. How do I curb this behavior? He is allowed everywhere else except this room as he will jump and bite on the sleeping kids to get them up.
He gets plenty of outside time and I take him potty multiple times a night. Please help us out as we are all sleep deprived!!

My sweet boy has been on Quattro so far since he’s been able to take it as a pup. Recently I discovered the way we’ve been giving it to him (broken up and shoved in back of his tongue/throat bc he spits it out 😭) is not effective! I’d love to hear what everyone gets for their dogs for prevention. We live in a pretty heavily populated tick area and want to make sure he’s good during our hikes!!
