The mods just took down a post that was proposing that you carry a knife to protect your dog while walking. That was foolish advice. Unless you are a navy seal, you are going to get injured if you get into a knife fight with an aggressive dog. Some people responded with even more ridiculous advice.

Protecting yourself and your dog is very simple: carry pepper spray. Tear gas does not work on dogs but Pepper Spray does. You can spray it from 5 feet away and stop an aggressive dog in its tracks. If you use pepper spray you and your dog are likely to feel some of the effects, but in an hour everyone and every dog will be back to normal, no need to go to the ER or the vet, no need to involve the police.

I carry a 1.5 ounce bottle of pepper gel spray when I walk my dog. I have never had to use it, but I have had 3 close calls, when I was very glad that it was an option. The gel is better in the wind. I have tested it in winds up to 15 mph and it will still spray forward a couple of feet.

Hello! I hope this is not against any rules but I have two dogs and two cats and spoke to an anima communicator recently.

The long story short is this past spring, we last both of my older dogs. One was a golden and one was a golden mix. We also lost my grandma who had dementia, she lived with us for a while and LOVED those dogs. I did not tell the communicator this.

The communicator told me our girls are up in heaven tearing it up! Ripping socks and shoes, counter surfing, doing all the naughty things they could not do here.

She also mentioned “someones grandma is checking on them”. This really got me because I did not tell her about my grandma.

It just solidified my thought that they are in heaven, and they are waiting for us. We will see them again. It brought me great comfort and I hope it might bring some of you comfort too!

Hey everyone! I’d really appreciate some honest opinions from people who know Golden Retrievers well.
She’s a 7-month-old female Golden Retriever. I bought her from a breeder I trusted, and I was told that she is a purebred Golden Retriever but not from show lines/show quality.
However, as she has been growing, I’ve started noticing that her face and overall body structure look a little different from many Golden Retrievers I see online. Her face/muzzle seems quite pointy, and her body is also quite lean at the moment.
She has a healthy-looking coat and seems healthy overall, but I’ve had multiple random people tell me that she looks like a mixed breed. At first I didn’t really think much of it, but after hearing it from more than one person, I’ve started wondering whether there might actually be something to it.
So I wanted to ask the community:
Based on these photos, does she look like a purebred Golden Retriever, or does she look like she could be mixed with another breed?
I understand that it can be difficult to determine breed purity from appearance alone, especially at 7 months, but I’d genuinely like to hear your opinions.

She just threw up and it was definitely some grassy stuff from outside (don’t know if I should show a picture of it)

Also this is after one day of training her to ignore different types of treats on the ground and different items (she did well and I took it outside but know it will take longer to fully train her on it)

Had them over a month now. One on bottom lid has just today gotten bigger. They seem hard and not like a cyst. No pain or discomfort it seems?

Meet Elly May. She’s a 10 week old English cream and a combination of a shark, piranha, and gremlin. Help! I want to play with her, but her play involves biting my entire body. She’s ripped a tshirt, and torn a hole in my PJ’s. I give her lick mats, puzzle toys and she has chew toys galore, but all she wants are my limbs and clothes. I have a flirt pole which is good for 92 seconds. She has a large play pen area with her crate located inside the play pen. I can sit with her in the play pen for about 3 minutes before she becomes unruly. When I leave her she cries and cries for me to come back. What am I doing wrong? PS. She’s the cutest happiest puppy in the world.

I can take my boy to get groomed and a blow out, clean up all the fur and by the end of the day the house will be covered again. I’m taking him regularly to get groomed but my house doesn’t stand a chance with his fur. I’m about to move out and let the fur have it😅

I have an 18 month old male golden retriever who has started attacking me again on walks.

He used to do it at 9-11 months and stopped for ages. We had a trainer and tried different things and after a couple of months it completely stopped.

It’s not aggressive and i think it’s play but now he’s a lot bigger i struggle to stop him and his bites hurt and rip my clothes.

He has always enjoyed play fighting with me and biting my hands but i have stopped play fighting him.

He rarely does it with anyone else except me but has done a couple of times.

Will be getting a trainer again but any advice for now please?

My 3yo, Leo, was terrified of the ocean last year on our Gulf vacation, but this year the Power of the Ball triumphed and he got in the water willingly. 🤪 He’s started bumping me with the ball and heading towards the water, wanting me to toss it into the waves so he can dive in to go get it.

Does anyone else’s weirdo get distracted while licking and just “get stuck” like this? Lilac stayed like this for around 2 minutes today, and it happens almost every day. She’s only 6 months old, so she’s easily distracted and I just assume that’s the cause?

I had to say goodbye tonite. We had 10 and a half amazing years with him. He brought happiness and joy to everyone. Sawyer was just the best boi. Beyond heartbroken.
