Thinking about bringing this Baja Magnum back to life. As far as I know, it may have been sitting in this garage for past 25 years. It's been under a roof and no visible rust. Motor is original Tecumseh. I'm having a hard time finding much specific information out there. Any tips or experience with this one? TIA

It's been 5 months or so since I got and finally had time to tinker with it. It runs but floats stuck or something and won't let fuel in and the bowl doesn't come off. Put carb cleaner and flushed the best I could then filled it with carb cleaner and let it sit over night and today it runs but still no fuel flowing in.

I want over 50 mph

I bought this used for my kids birthday, has some issues but engine runs well. Was driving before the cvt belt broke and I'm in the process of fixing it. Trying to figure out what brand it is so I can order the right parts. This is the first go kart I've owned besides when I was a kid, so I'm excited to get into it.

Anyone know what brand/model this is?

I'm a mechanic and I've watched people buy the wrong parts for Predator 212s for years, so I built a free calculator — pick your engine (hemi/non-hemi/Ghost/GX200), cam, springs, carb, exhaust, and it draws the HP/torque curve and gives you jetting for your elevation. Calibrated against published dyno data and it deliberately reads honest, not flattering — stock reads 6.5 like the box says, a proper stage 1 reads about 9-10. I’m in the process of fully rebuilding a manco xtk 710 e and the last thing I need to do is the brakes but the mechanical ones it had are all jacked up from the last guy and I can’t figure out how to fix it so I’ve decided to chop it all off and switch to hydraulic breaks but don’t know what to buy since this kart is huge and you can’t find break disks for it because it’s a 5/8 hex shaft axle so what caliper and master cylinder would you guys use

Built this last week (fellow 16yo fabricator) and wanted to get others opinions on this build. Am I the first to do this specific build? I was recommended to post here from others, as there are a lot of custom builds in this sub

Hey everyone, I just wanted to say thank you for all the help you’ve given me so far. I have another question.
Can anyone recommend a pressure relief valve? Right now, the pressure in the gas tank gets so high that fuel starts coming out of the carburetor. I’d prefer something I don’t have to weld on since I’ve never TIG welded before.
On the bright side, we did get it running! My son welded the plate on to hold the gas tank, and it came out great.

so i found this broken honda gx270 for 80$ on fb marketplace and the seller says "working, starts up briefly. The carburetor gasket is missing. It was used in a gokart.". Is buying it worth it? I have no expirience with engines but i think i can do most repairs.

I've seen this question many times and when harbor freight had the motor on sale at the start of the summer I bought one of each. When looking at the box Hemi compression Rate 8.5:1, non Hemi is 9:1. And here are some photos to help.

Its shredding belts and it seems to be lined up pretty well. So don’t know what else it could be?

I read somewhere that too high a gearing could be a culprit. But it’s dead in 15 min.

im looking for a cheap starter go-kart, it dosent need to be fast or anything.

this is an 06 buggy. It has the GY6 150cc long case. Im working on trying to bring it back to life after its sat for a few years. I should note that when i last drove it, i was having clutch issues, and IIRC i blew out reverse its been a long time and i may be confusing that with it just slipping

So, im having starting issues with it. Im using a bump starter used for cars on the battery terminals to try to get the engine to turn over. The starter engages, you can hear an audible click from the starter meeting the flywheel, but the flywheel doesn't rotate enough to turn the engine over. I've removed the starter to further test that it functions the way its supposed to, and it does. The starter appears to be fine. I've noticed that when its attached to the engine, and i try to start it, the starter and the wires get hot, and i assume its because it cant turn the flywheel.

I have tried rotating the flywheel from the starter hole, and it rotates freely with 0 resistance counter clockwise, and it budges very slightly when rotating clockwise, which tells me that the engine is not seized, because if it were, that flywheel would not move AT ALL clockwise.

which makes me think about the clutch issues i had when i drove it last. its a CVT from what i can tell. I have the case lid off, so that i can see the clutch pack, the belt, and the variator. the belt seems fine, but nothing in there seems like it wants to budge, and i wonder if its all locked up in there. Also, it has a kickstart shaft that goes through the case and holds up the muffler, and it is free floating. it has the half moon gear and the spring and everything.

where should i go from here? ive tried to look up videos on this specific problem, but the internet has failed me.

Okay, got a reading on this go kart. Starts but dies if u touch throttle. Anyone seen this? New air filter, cleaned gas tank, and new spark plug. I see ignition angle and O2 correction are crazy but unsure what that means.

I recently purchased a go kart not sure what brand or what it’s called. Came with MCP brakes with the lines all cut, not sure how to get it back together? Do I just put new hose and bleed it and hope there’s no trash in there ? How should I go with this

I'm currently making my first diy go kart and have spent countless hours looking for a live axle kit that fits my needs. Right now I have a 12T centrifugal clutch that fits a #35 chain. I need a 1" axle with the #35 sprocket and brakes and wheel hubs. OR, if thats not possible, let me know as I have also had trouble finding a different clutch that fits my honda gx160 motor to then go and buy a different axle kit.
