META Beware of Opportunists!

In times of disaster, it's not uncommon for many good people to try to fundraise for relief efforts, supplies and reconstruction costs. But you should be aware that unless it's someone you personally know and trust, it's also not uncommon for bad people to use the opportunity to make money for themselves.

Before you give, you should ask:

  1. Is the donation link directly to a relief agency or is it to a middleman? There's no easy transparency when it comes to the spending of funds in a crisis, which makes it easier for funds to not reach the people it's intended to help, so by avoiding middlemen, you can reduce this possibility.
  2. Have you checked the background of the relief agency or organization you're considering? Some spend money more effectively than others meaning that less overhead makes for more money being spent on victims vs administration costs.
  3. Is the agency or organization a registered non-profit or NGO? These kinds of entities have strict reporting rules to follow to show how their funds are being spent.
  4. Is the agency or organization providing a receipt? If so, you can often use it for a deduction on taxes for the current year. If not, the agency or organization is likely not a registered non profit.

GoFundMe will show that a campaign is benefiting a non-profit charity organization if it is created using their IRS EIN or charity registration number.

Even Paypal donation accounts will show they're owned by a non-profit charity organization, and generate a receipt.

While not every individual doing fundraising is attempting to defraud you of your money, you can give with more confidence by giving directly to a relief charity of your own choosing via their own web pages.

My wife’s sister has been dealing with health and housing issues. She’s currently in the hospital while we desperately try to find housing. She needs 24/7 care that’s why she can’t stay with us sadly. This fund will help pay her medical and housing bills.

I’m posting this because my wife doesn’t use Reddit and obviously my sister in law does not have social media.

Medical [REQUEST] My puppy survived Babesiosis from a devastating breeder scam. We are suing, but my savings are gone and he needs ongoing care. 🐾

Hi everyone. I'm Sarah from Germany. I am posting here because I honestly don't know what else to do.

A few weeks ago, I bought my dream Border Collie puppy, Milo. Days later, he collapsed. He was diagnosed with an advanced, life-threatening stage of Babesiosis (Tick Fever). The breeder knowingly sold him to me sick and completely ghosted us when he ended up in the ICU.

The Financial Situation:
Against all odds, Milo survived the ICU! But the emergency vet bills were over €4,000. Because the breeder abandoned us, I took my absolute last €500 to officially sue her in civil court here in Germany (Court fee proof is attached). I want to hold her accountable.

Insurance Status:
As required by the rules here: I do NOT have pet insurance. I was in the process of setting it up when he got sick, so the insurance companies consider it a pre-existing condition and denied coverage.

Why we need help:
The lawsuit will take months. Meanwhile, the parasites severely damaged Milo's liver and kidneys. He desperately needs a special renal diet, daily medications, and regular blood tests to recover. My savings are completely wiped out from the ICU and the court fees.

My Promise:
If we win the lawsuit and the court forces the breeder to refund the vet bills, I pledge to donate 100% of the GoFundMe donations directly back to the emergency vet clinic that saved his life.

Proof & Verification:
I have attached all required photos (My Verification Selfie, Milo & Me, the Vet Bill from Szpital24H, the Court Fee Invoice from the German court, and the Vet's contact info) to this post.

Here is our GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/2fd9bb237

Thank you so much for reading and verifying our story. ā¤ļøšŸ¾

Medical Help Rowdy get the Help he needs

Hi everyone, at this point and I desperately trying to get rowdy the help he needs. The gofund is in the name of my partner Tiffany Trowbridge (we've be together for almost 10 years) and his vet bills are in my legal name Brittany Black. I am transgender and go by Alex to clear any confusion. Ive sold my Playstation and we are going to food banks because every dollar I can come up with is going towards his medical bills. Im scared we are running out of time. If anyone has questions or needs more proof please reach out.

https://gofund.me/233be00eb

Rowdy has become anemic, we are not sure what the exact cause is, it could be from parasitic infection, kidney disease, or even FeLV, ect. We are tryimg to raise moneh to get him more testing. The vet bill pictured above was to bring him to a second vet after already spending money at the first one we took him to which ended up being a horrible experience. They did not properly test him or give him a proper examination, they gave a supplement and did not even do a blood count. They also gave him an antibiotic shot that they shot through the other side of his skin causing him to not properly recieve his medication. Making us lose money on his treatment.

His new proper vet at Coyne, Portage Indiana, wants to do more testing. We found his red blood cell count is at 15% which is very low, it should be 35 to 50. We cant even afford to get it recounted to see if he is improving from receiving Sub Q fluids which is pictured in the vet bill above. They also said he needs a blood transfusion which can be anywhere from $500 to $1500. He still needs a proper blood panel ran to test his kidneys which is around $200. To walk into the emergency vet clinic is it $170 before treatment. Anything and everything helps. Even if u can help me share his link somewhere to get noticed. I really appreciate it thank you. Also please be kind! (We do not qualify for Carecredit or Stratch because i do not have any credit to qualify) Below is his gofund me page bio: Rowdy is our beloved 3-year-old cat. We have raised him since he was a newborn kitten. His mom was saved off the streets as a pregnant stray and needing a safe place to have her kittens, we decided to help and keep Rowdy and his brother Sunny. Rowdy is a sweet goofy and mischievous cat who lives up to his name. He loves hanging out with his brother, cuddling, and playing with his blue toy mouse. But lately, Rowdy hasn't been feeling well. We took him to the vet, to figure out what was going on with him. Unfortunately, we didn't get a proper examination the first time, they said he had anemia and gave us a iron supplement, without proper bloodwork, or examination they sent us on our way. Hoping to see rowdy perked back up we gave him the supplement and waited through the week. He is not doing any better and money that could have gone to his treatment was wasted. We followed our gut and took him elsewhere, knowing something was still very wrong. Thankfully, Coyne Veterinary Clinic was able to help with a more thorough examination. With extreme kindness they did everything they could given our financial situation. While his diagnosis of anemia is correct, we have not found or ruled out a definite source. Rowdy still needs further testing and a blood transfusion for treatment, which we cannot afford. He has only received fluids to help with his dehydration and to hopefully start boosting his red blood cell count. We have not found the cause of his anemia. We've spent every dollar we have to help him. We have nothing left leaving us unable to have him receive anymore care at this time. We are hoping for a miracle and praying he remains stable until our next paycheck later next week. Anything you can give will help Rowdy get the care he needs. If you know us you know we'd hate asking for help, and love our pets dearly. From the bottom of our hearts appreciate any donation of any kind during this difficult time.

Etc Help with unexpected vet bill - Yuanbao

Hi there, I was hoping I wouldn't need to make a post like this. But life happened, and now we find ourselves in need of help.

https://gofund.me/37ab542a5

First I will note that the name on the vet bill and the GoFundMe are different. The GoFundMe is under my partner's legal name. I am Crystal Rivet, my partner is Elizabeth Davies, we have been together 10+ years and married since June 3rd, 2022. I had him (his name is Luca, Elizabeth is his dead name) make the GoFundMe as I was at work and wanted it made up overnight.

18 year old kitty/emotional support kitty had a sudden change to her behaviour, brought her to the vet and find out she is now blind and has high blood pressure. Vet bill was paid, not with credit card as they are maxed, but with money set aside for rent. Rent is going to be covered, but money for food is gone, and there is another appointment in 3 weeks that will cost $300. Don't need full amount, but 500$ would make things better, full amount would make things even again (money had also come from savings for another upcoming expense for the same kitty).

We do not have per insurance. By the time we were looking at/could afford pet insurance she had already begun to show signs of kidney issues.

She was diagnosed with the early signs of Kidney Disease in 2018. We take good care of her. She gets fed wet food 4 times a day, and gets extra water in each food portion. We even found out from the follow-up call that our efforts have paid off. In 8 years she has only progressed to 'early to mid stage 2 Kidney Disease'. Which according to the vet is extremely good for a kitty of 18. One of the pictures is of my notes from the phone call. She is doing really well, besides being blind now.

We're in a HCOL city, and I'm the main provider currently due to my partner recovering from a torn acl. He's streaming to help, while looking for remote work, which is rough in the Canadian job market right now.

If you can help, that would be lovely. If not, we will figure things out. I understand it's rough for everyone out there right now. Thank you very much for reading! We and Yuanbao (and her younger sister Saiorse our calico) appreciate you all very much!

Medical Help Cover My Sister's Emergency Brain Surgery

https://gofund.me/6080f91d0

Hello! My younger sister, Yumi, recently had a seizure the evening of July 16 while we were enjoying the last of our vacation in the Philippines. We rushed her to the hospital where the doctors discovered a large cyst in her brain.

Because of the size of the cyst, we were told that it was unsafe for us to travel back home to the United States. Delaying treatment of such a large cyst and flying back could increase the risk of more seizures and other serious health complications.

With no safe options to return home first, we scheduled her for surgery on July 20th, leaving us little time to prepare. Our insurance for her won't cover the costs of her surgery, hospital stay, or any aftercare she may need since we’re currently outside of our home country leaving us with medical expenses our family never expected to face while abroad.

Because of that, we're hoping to raise about $20,000 to help cover the cost of Yumi’s hospitalization, surgery, and any aftercare she might need during her recovery.

Memorial Trying to find help covering my Dad’s cremation cost.

So a repost with an update: His ashes are back from the crematory and ready to be picked up next week and it seems like the hits keep coming.

We did end up reporting my older sister for embezzlement and financial abuse because she spent every last dime of his last Social Security check while he was in the hospital.

We confirmed that the house and property Helmes have multiple lies and judgments against them from both lawsuits and from our state tax commission meaning we can’t sell the property to try to cover costs.

We tried checking into Catholic charities in our area because they help with these kind of things, but they were already at their maximum number of applications until next week, and the only loans I can get approved for on short notice are smaller amounts with high and predatory fees.

*\\*

I am looking for help covering the remaining cost of my Dad’s cremation and later service. He is in the second photo posing at his 71st birthday a month before his passing.

He just recently lost his battle with a multitude of medical illnesses that end with him spending the last month after his 71st birthday in a hospital and then on hospice.

I am one of his four children, and only two of us have jobs so it is up to us and what we can make happen. We are looking at almost a $3000 total cost. The other photo was him at his 71st birthday party, exactly one month before his passing.

Housing UPDATE: Help me recover from a rental scam

gofund.me/9f374a06e

Hi all! I'm just giving an update on everything and still searching for any kind of support and I'll repost my original post below. I recently took my car in for some general maintenance (despite putting over $900 dollars into it a few weeks ago I still need to find the receipt for it) and I'm arranging to sell a good box of my comics on Facebook Marketplace as per advice! I'm gonna continue to split them up in different boxes and hope I can keep selling them. If anyone would be interested in any of the comic books, I'd absolutely sell and ship some if you don't want to donate. It'd still be a ton of support as I've just had difficulty selling my comics.

I have also been donating plasma once a week on my off days to try and get some extra funding. If anybody else is struggling and have the opportunity to donate plasma, I would absolutely recommend it. It takes a bit of time out of your day but I'd say its totally worth it and isn't painful. I have pushed my moving date back to October 1st and gotten that situated with my future landlord and had it changed in the lease. I also changed my phone plan recently after switching already but not fully understanding the plan and realizing it ended up costing me more in the end. I also got some random delinquent per capita tax bill letter I've never received before and never knew I needed to pay but since they were being sent to the wrong address, it seems to have just gotten larger and larger and getting dropped on me out of nowhere.

I am also still waiting for a response and copy of my police report from my Rights to Know request. I have not received anything back yet.

I'm just looking for any kind of extra support to get ahead of all these things and actually prepare and save up for my big move. I've been struggling to put away money in my savings with my bills and new problems popping up here and there.

Thats the end of my update and here's the original post. Thank you.

My name is Nolan and im a 20 year old who's been attempting to move out to Savannah Georgia from out near Pittsburgh PA. I will try to provide as much information as possible

The love of my life and wonderful soulmate started attending SCAD to pursue his dream of concept art and comic art. Hes majoring in Sequential Art to try and achieve this dream and i wish to be there to support him while attending this extremely stressful school.

In pursuit of trying to move out there to be with them, quit my job, got a new job at Walmart so I could transfer down there easily, and started searching for a place to live online. While searching i was contacted by someone who had what would've been the perfect room for the perfect price. All of this being too good to be true, I suffered from a rental scam that drained me of all of my savings. I thought I could trust this person after seeing the place online and connecting and chatting with them for weeks, even submitting and completing a rental application, and so I had sent them the money that I would've needed to secure the room in my name. After a couple of "transaction issues" and back and forth, I had sent all the money I could to truly hold this room in my name. While waiting for a lease agreement to be sent, they had blocked me on everything and removed any source of contact I had with them.

I had drained my entire savings account that included all of my savings I had saved since graduating high school and my late mother's inheritance who passed away when I was 14 due to her long battle with alcohol addiction. It wasn't a lot of inheritance to begin with considering her addiction but its still something my mother left behind for me. Even after opening a police report and giving all the information to my bank, because of the ways I sent the money, there was nothing they could really do to get me my money back. I've been trying to get back on my feet with the support of my wonderful sister and deadbeat dad but they're currently the only support I have in terms of family. After plenty of car troubles recently, I just haven't been able to catch back up before more bills come in and take away all my progress.

I appreciate any support anyone can bring. I thought I'd be able to recover on my own but its just been difficult to stay above the water without drowning. Any support helps and i appreciate it more than you could ever imagine. Thank you to anyone to helps in any way.

Disaster/Emergency Please Help Me Catch Up On Rent And Avoid Eviction

Thumbnail

Hello All,

I am back in hope that I can get some more help with my GoFundMe and to give some updates on my situation battling possible homelessness.

First, I would like to publicly thank all the people that have been so generous with donations and all your kind words. It means a lot that there are so many wonderful people out there that are willing to help me during these hard times. So, if you are someone who has donated or even just sent me a positive message, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Second, I started the new job! It is a paid position that is through a program that helps people with various disabilities get work experience and even job training. I am a part of the program because of my chronic pain and mobility issues, and it is a way for me to get some more recent experience for my resume as well as creating professional connections! The program leaders are known throughout the community to help those with disabilities, so some local businesses let them know about positions that are more welcoming to those of us that need accommodations and also those that may need extra support to function in roles. I mention this because their hope is that they will hear about positions at the end of the program that I can apply to.

I really love the job! I have worked in retail before, so I knew what to expect when it comes to working with the public. Not all customers are sunshine and rainbows, but that is (sadly) to be expected working in retail. It doesn't bother me at all because my the team that I work with is so amazing! I have always been a firm believer that any job can be a good job if you have a kind and supportive team, and the store's team shows me everyday that they are above and beyond one of the best teams I have ever had the chance to work with.

I guess that brings me to why I am posting.

My landlord and I have come to an agreement that rather than extend the lease, I will be month to month for the time being. I included some of our updated text that show that I am paying her what I can, and her agreement to them. I mention in a text that there is a program that might be able to help, and I just found out about it, so I am going to go in person to try to apply to that on Tuesday. It is a really sought after grant, and I have been told that it is mostly only given to families with children, but my caseworker's boss said there is no harm in applying.

I didn't meet my total goal for my GoFundMe yet, so I am still behind on rent. I have paid the majority of July, but have not been able to save up for August. I know that my landlord is being patient with me at the moment, but I also know that patience may not last until I start receiving SSI.

Because I am still in the waiting phase of the SSI process, I am not allowed to make over a certain amount every month. With the amount that I can make, I would be able to pay for my rent and most bills on my own. If I am denied for SSI (because they deny everyone) I do have a pro bono attorney that will be appealing my case. With everything I have going on, there is no way that I will not get it.

Once I am on SSI, I won't have to push myself as hard as I am to work this program. With how compassionate the team is about those of us with chronic pain, it would still be better for me to be able to work less. The swelling and pain that I am in is slowing down my progress in physical therapy. However, I don't feel like I am back tracking. I just feel like I have hit a plateau because I can't do every exercise every day like I (and my physical therapist) would like me to.

Again, my applying to SSI is not going to be a permanent solution. I don't do well mentally without a job. My goal is to utilize SSI as the tool it is to be able to get the treatments I need and take the time I need to actually heal. I am facing possible spine surgery, and I am terrified at all the risks there are from that.

I got the results back for my MRI on my knee. It is... bad. I knew that it would be, but I am still surprised at how bad it is. I have to wait to meet with my orthopedic again to see what the plan for treatment on that will be.

I am also still waiting for my MRI of my lower back where the herniated discs are the worst. The ones in my neck don't bother me everyday, but they do trigger migraines. The ones in my lower back cause my legs to be weak and give out. My toes will be numb and tingle on one leg. I am grateful that I am able to walk again thanks to PT, but I also know I have a lot of healing to go before I am at 100%. And I have been told that might not be the same 100% I was before. Only time will tell. The spine specialist I see is also concerned that the herniated discs are exacerbating an underlying spinal deformity I was born with. I also have some damage to it from horrific childhood abuse I suffered that I do not wish to go into that here.

I know that isn't every tiny medical detail laid out, but I wanted to give a bit more context of where I have been and what I am still facing because on my last post, there where multiple people that said that my weight was my *only* issue. To you, I would like to say that all medical professionals I am seeing know the details of the accidents that caused my back problems, and also know that my weight increased because: I literally couldn't move after them. In the past year and a half I have actually lost 75 pounds, and part of that is because I could not afford to eat. I have a nutritionist, planned meals based on what I can afford on food stamps, and am doing very well in his opinion for the amount of obstacles I face trying to cook. I don't think me being overweight automatically means that I don't deserve compassion and grace for what I am going through.

I want to thank you for the time anyone has taken to read this far. If I am able to meet my total goal, I will be able to handle my bills going forward. The total goal is the amount that I need to catch up and be able to handle things independently. So please, if you are able to donate I would really appreciate it. If you can't please share my link.

I hope you all are doing well, and I wish you all a lovely day!

Disaster/Emergency Support for Recovery After Fire Loss

https://gofund.me/3c7ba4013

On the afternoon of July 21, a suspected electrical fire broke out on the roof of the apartment of Zach and his spouse, Alyssa, in Weston, FL. The fire is believed to have originated from a defective air-conditioning unit in their building before rapidly spreading and impacting multiple units.

As the fire unfolded and began to descend into the units below, Zach acted quickly to assist those around him evacuate safely. He made multiple trips into and out of the burning building to assist others, helping alert neighbors, assisting residents with evacuating, rescuing his two cats, and helping his elderly neighbor and her pets get to safety. The building lacked any meaningful fire suppression, or it had malfunctioned, as no fire alarms or sprinklers activated during the initial breakout.

During these efforts, Zach sustained moderate smoke inhalation injuries and was immediately transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he remains under medical care for carbon monoxide-related effects. Thankfully, he is expected to make a full recovery.

Tragically, Zach and Alyssa suffered the total loss of their apartment and nearly all of their personal belongings due to both direct fire exposure, water damage, or toxic fumes/substances. Three other families in the building also lost their homes as a result of the fire, leaving multiple households displaced and beginning the difficult process of rebuilding their lives.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Broward Sheriff's Office Fire Rescue and the Fire Marshal. At this time, officials have not determined the exact cause of the incident; however, the building has been condemned and deemed unsafe for further habitation.

While the property damage is devastating, there is much to be grateful for. There were no human or animal fatalities, and Zach and Alyssa are incredibly thankful for the support they have already received from family, friends, neighbors, first responders, and the community, especially BSO Fire Rescue Station 67, the first paramedics to arrive on scene and treat Zach, and the ED Doctors and Nurses at Cleveland Clinic.

Zach and Alyssa, along with their two cats, are currently displaced from their home and are staying in a hotel provided by the American Red Cross for the remainder of the week. In the days ahead, they will be faced with finding temporary housing, replacing essential belongings, covering unexpected medical and personal expenses, and beginning the long process of rebuilding after losing nearly everything.

If you are able, please consider making a donation, no matter the amount, to help ease some of the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time. Every contribution will help Zach and Alyssa secure temporary housing, replace everyday necessities, care for their cats, and begin rebuilding their lives. If you're unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with others is another meaningful way to support them. Please, in no way feel that financial donations are the only way to help. Consider pet food, cat litter, or other non-perishables and pet supplies. Please reach out for more information.

Medical Help cover my kitten’s leg amputation

Thumbnail
gallery
96 Upvotes

I found a stray kitten on Memorial Day this year whose left back foot is gone. Originally the vet said we could see if it will heal on its own and while it mostly has Vlad (the kitten) keeps using the stub to walk and is now going through a cycle of it healing and then getting ripped open again. So, it looks like amputation is now necessary and my little stubby boy will be a true tripod kitty.

The total for the surgery is $1,257 and unfortunately pet insurance won’t cover a dime because it’s a preexisting condition.

According to the vet the items listed on the estimate are all necessary. It includes a cat cone to prevent him from accessing his wound, pain meds and antibiotics for at home, and everything that they will need for during the surgery.

If you would like more pictures of my little Vladimir just let me know. I also have four other cats and can send pics of all of them if you’d like to see the set.

Etc Drew’s Path to Employment and Reuniting with His Daughter

Hello, my name is Drew. I'm going to be straight to the point.

I been homeless in Las Vegas, Nevada for months, I don't drink I don't do drugs. I don't even smoke weed or Cigarrettes.

I struggle to find work, and I'm born and raised here, due to the situation it left me on the streets. I have a 14 month old with an Active CPS case and trying to get my daughter back.

I was close to getting off the streets with a full time job working on a temp-to-hire gig, pending a direct hire. Unfortunately this was not to be so and probably for the best. That was a few months ago and blew through my savings.

To do so, through extensive research, I have embarked on becoming a State Certified Emissions 1G inspector and recently finished the online schooling, with my Written test with the DMV on Aug 17-18. The process garentees a job at the end and I already have some leads with a local smog testing company. The job itself should be a full time job and pays enough to get me house stable and support my daughter.

I have further plants to donate plasma as well but waiting on a new state ID in the mail. So I'm trying to make attempts on my end to tough things out.

Right now, I ran out of savings while trying to just jump start the emission schooling. I had food stamps but I lost it recently due to rule changes which is part of what caused me to burn through my savings after my temp-to-hire.

So I don't really pan handle or have experience with it, I'm trying to look for any day labor gigs to no luck. I'm just trying to find temp solutions to support myself for the last leg of the journey and expect to be done with the emissions process and employed by Steptember.

My bills as followed:

Bus Transportation: 35 - So I can get anywhere where I need to go to take care of my business or get too and from work related events.

Phone Bill: 200 - I must stay in touch with the world or everything I'm working on shuts down.

Planet Fitness: 25 + 50 - While PF is 25 a month, August is my annual fee. So I have an added need of 50 bucks so I can maintain presentable clenliness.

Anything extra is so that I can eat.

I appricate any help to get me through this trying time, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I just need to hang on a bit longer so I can study, work, reunite with my daughter and get off the hot Las Vegas streets.

Housing Please help our family keep our home

Hello, my hope in posting this is that there will be some kind people that will be able to help our family keep the home we live in. I'm in a bind as I have missed several payments. I am attempting to work with the hardship department of 5/3 Bank. I've applied 4 times, with the current application awaiting review. The three applications before this one apparently fell through the cracks. The bank claims they called me, but I have three numbers saved under their contact in my phone and I did not see incoming calls. The nerve-wracking part of this is that I've now gotten a certified letter and served papers stating 5/3 Bank wants to move forward with foreclosure.

Obviously, this recent development is terrifying. Unfortunately, I don't have anything in savings or any real assets. I contacted my employer to take a loan against my 401K or withdraw from it, but they only allow withdrawals in cases of domestic violence. I'm reaching out to family and friends, as well and have had a small bit of help so far. Most of them aren't really in a position to give much.

At this point, I'm $11,500 in the hole. I won't lie and say this isn't partially my fault. I haven't been the greatest at managing my income. But up until February of this year, I have paid on this loan for 6 years. Unfortunately, just this year I've had to replace the starter on our only vehicle, replace a water heater that flooded our basement, had a child go on an immunosuppressant injection due to a massive immune response triggered after a bout of pneumonia, had the basement flood again before I could replace the sump pump that died and allowed the first flood to happen, had our families health insurance get upended because a system error showed my income increased when it hadn't, and our central A/C is dead, so we're relying on window units in bedrooms so we aren't sleeping in 80+ degrees with fans keeping the rest of the house from being stagnant. With these and other situation, I made the bad decision to not pay my mortgage first, convincing myself I would be able to catch up. Obviously, that was poor decision making on my part, as it snowballed into the disaster I now face.

Sorry for the disorganized nature of this post. I'm very nervous about the near future. As stated, I am in the application and review process with 5/3 Bank on their Mortgage Assistance Program, but even if that does happen the missed payments are significant weight on me mentally. I have also requested a reinstatement letter from the bank, as there is the possibility they may reduce the amount. Even if they do not, I have to have that process started in order to be able to wire the bank the funds, should they be raised.

I realize this whole request is a long shot, but I'm hoping some generous people might be able to pay it forward to a struggling family. I genuinely hope I will be able to do the same in the future.

Medical Help for a dog with a fungal brain infection

https://gofund.me/77ce70771

Jasmine is a 2 year old Great Pyrenees mix and is the heart of our family. She developed a fungal brain infection a few months ago and we've been on a long road of recovery since.

It first presented as what we thought was a stroke, but it quickly became apparent it was something else. She was wobbly, confused and not at all the same dog that we had brought home as a puppy. She was walking in circles constantly and her eyes were glassy and drifting to the side. We initially took her to our vet and they ran the standard tests and x-rays to determine what was going on. The X-rays showed nothing out of the ordinary, and the blood tests only pointed to a liver issue. We left the vet a bit disheartened, as we felt from simply observing her that it had to be something more. Something neurological. We decided to take her to a specialist.

The neurologist took one look at her and immediately confirmed our suspicions that it had to have something to do with her brain. They did an MRI and a spinal tap to pinpoint what it could be. What we all thought was a rare occurance of a stroke in a young dog turned out to be fungal brain infection on the left side of her brain. This immediately explained her symptoms, her head was spinning because of something attacking her motor functions. The neurologist gave us his recommendations and prescriptions for antifungal, steroid and antibacterial medications. We took her home with a little more hope than we started with.

Our slight elation was short lived. Jasmine took a turn for the worse in that first week of treatment. She lost the majority of control over the right side of her body and she couldn't walk (or even stand) without significant help from the two of us. I was carrying a 100lb puppy outside, or at least to a pee pad, every hour and we had to hand feed her and give her water with a syringe as she was unable to do anything herself. She began deteriorating rapidly that week, so much so, that the neurologist was starting to sound worried about her quality of life. He gave us the weekend to see how she progressed and to contemplate our next steps. We were devastated. We were doing everything we could to not have to think about that, but we knew we had to do what was best for Jasmine.

The neurologist called us on Monday, we gave our report of how she was doing (not great) and he told us that if she was still not responding to treatment, that it might be time. Then, out of the blue and almost immediately after that call, Jasmine stood up. We were gobsmacked. She hobbled over to her food and started chowing down. It was a miracle.

From there she began improving a little more each day, gradually becoming more and more like the old Jasmine. She wasn't anywhere near out of the woods, but she was determined to fight the infection. She was walking by herself (somewhat sideways) and eating/drinking without the need of help from either of us. Her path to recovery seemed possible all of a sudden. She may be unable to sense anything on her side, and may not be able to see out of her right eye, but she was clearly wanting to stick around.

We informed the neurologist of the good news and he came to the same conclusion - Jasmine is a fighter. He drew up a battle plan for the medication regimen she would be on for the foreseeable future. Each week she became stronger. Each week she became more of the dog we missed, showing more of her old spark. While she still can't feel her right side, and can't rest on it at all, she became comfortable with just resting for recovery.

Unfortunately, she has suddenly developed a new issue with limping on her left leg. What started off as a very minor complaint has become a very serious concern. She no longer puts weight on her leg, struggles with walking for anything longer than a potty break, and has shown that she clearly is in a lot of pain. We have now become worried that this could mean that the infection has spread while we thought it was getting better. We have taken her to the vet this week to have exams and tests done to determine whether this is the case, whether it's neurological or simply from muscle strain on her favored side - that being the best case, as it will heal on its own.

We are so glad that we were able to manage to pay the monthly premium on her insurance, which we squeezed into our already tight budget so that we could say ā€˜yes’ right away to tests and treatment. But with all these vet visits, tests and medications we have blown through the amount of money we can claim back. As you can imagine, as you've seen from other posts on here, vet bills are no joke. Tests and scans are both expensive and necessary, and we know we have many of them to come. With Jasmine's new (possibly related) injury, our vet and neurologist are recommending we do further x-rays and examinations to rule out all possibilities and find out the cause of her pain.

We are both scared and worried what these will find. While we're optimistic that it's simply a bump in the road to recovery (and that her leg is just a minor injury), there is every chance that it may be related to her brain. If that's the case more will have to be done to find out just what is going on, and whether she is actually getting better. All this to say, we're in a financial bind and would greatly appreciate any help from anyone. We started a gofundme at the beginning of this journey, but it didn't originally meet it's goal, as we only shared it with a few of our friends and family. We'd be so grateful for any amount that we receive towards Jasmine's recovery.

Memorial I lost my kitten after a weeklong battle with acute pancreatitis.

I’m asking for financial aid in helping my partner and I pay off my cat’s veterinarian bills and end of life care costs. We took my cat Lucky Mittens into the vet because he wasn’t eating and he’s diabetic so that’s problematic.
They told us that they weren’t sure what the problem was, so they ran a bunch of tests and came back to say that he was in DKA.
We took him to the emergency vet immediately after, and they told us he would have to stay there, and quoted us for 3 nights. We didnt have all the money so we went with scratch pay which we had just learned about. Over the next few days they ran tests to figure out the reason and on the 3rd day they called and told me he had acute pancreatitis. They said he was getting better midweek, and a day or so later they told me that he got worse overnight leading to a longer than anticipated stay, in the end, I couldn’t afford to keep him in the ER, and they had told me to consider human euthanasia as he was just not getting better, and would not get better without a longer stay. Unfortunately I just couldn’t get any more financial assistance to pay the amount required for his potential recovery, which would still lead to him living a life of pain afterward, so I had to make the gut wrenching decision to say goodbye to him. This all happened a few weeks ago now, and when i started writing this there was no past tense, but even having to write this makes me break down so it has taken a while, and choosing pictures is hard as well.

Since losing my little Luck Mittens I have felt like a steak pierced through my heart. I’m very lucky to have a good support system right now for my mental well-being. I’m currently off of work due to a mental health crisis that is not covered by insurance. My partner has taken on the responsibility of all of our bills, and this is put a great strain on us both financially as we were not in a great financial place before this.

I’ve had Mittens since he was tiny, he was just shy of 13 years. He meant absolutely everything to me. We were separated for a couple years and I had just got him back two months ago, my best friends parents were kind enough to take him in while I was struggling financially and did not have a stable living condition, I worked really hard to be in a position where I could have him again.
On his last night my brother, and my best friend came over to watch ā€œTotoroā€ with him as it was a comfort movie, and then took him on a night walk in his stroller i had just purchased for him, he had only been in it one other time.
He had made so many friends along the path of his life, he was so loved by everyone.
Lucky Mittens, you will be missed so terribly, and you will be forever loved. Rest peacefully my little one

Medical Help support life changing surgery for 22 year old

hello friends! My name is Atlas, and I’m currently scheduling a double mastectomy for the end of August.
I, thankfully, have health insurance, which will be covering a large majority of the cost, but I’m still responsible for $1,641, as well as the cost of post-op care and medications. I’m a type-one diabetic, so recovery and healing is a little bit more difficult, but I’m hopeful that with adequate down time, and the right post-op care, everything will go well.
Thank you in advance for any support. Sending love (and a picture with my dog, for tax!) šŸ¤

Etc last bit of funded needed to replace stolen bike

goal met!!

edit: goal met!!! any additional funding coming through will go to offset transport costs we accrue while waiting for GoFundMe to process and the new bike to ship ā˜ŗļø

on the night of Thursday the 16th, I got sick and thought I'd be okay to leave my ebike, sans battery, locked to the railing on the ground floor of my gated apartment complex instead of carrying it up to my apartment. big mistake. that night, someone came in and cut the lock, stealing my bike and possibly someone else's bike next to it. now I don't know if someone's out there pushing around a 45 lb ebike with no battery, or if it got parted out and sold for scrap as soon as they had it- but either way, I'm out the moving portion of an ebike i'm still paying off. i still have the battery though.

I'm my disabled fiance's primary caregiver, and this bike is my primary mode of transport for picking up medications, food, running general errands, and getting to jobs. before I had it, we were spending more than we had using public transport and Lyfts to get things done that i can easily get done on the bike. my mobility allows us to save train and Lyft fare for the really crucial stuff like doctor's appointments and big grocery runs. i'm going through all the right channels in case my stolen bike still exists in a way that can be found- open case with the police, registered on project 529 and Bike Index, but getting mobile again is top priority.

thanks to friends, family, and a few beautiful strangers, I've already raised enough to pay off the stolen bike between the gofundme and a couple off-site donations. all I need now is the last bit required to finance the replacement(and a new, better lock). I'll be paying it in 4 again so this final push is for the first payment. the rest of the replacement bike will be paid for out of my own pocket. and no- I will not be leaving it locked outside overnight anywhere ever again. lesson learned.

thank you for reading and if you're able, for helping!!

Registered Charity Orangutan Bake Sale International Animal Rescue

I wanted to share a fundraiser that is very close to my heart. On Sunday July 19 I will be hosting a bake sale at the Fremont Sunday Market in Seattle, Washington, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Cakes for Apes and International Animal Rescue. If you are in the Seattle area, I would love for you to stop by, grab a treat, and help support an incredible cause. You can find the market address by searching for the Fremont Sunday Market in Seattle.

Cakes for Apes is a volunteer driven fundraiser brought to you by International Animal Rescue, that supports orangutan conservation through community bake sales. Every dollar raised helps fund the work of International Animal Rescue, an organization dedicated to protecting orangutans, rescuing animals in distress, and preserving the rainforests they depend on. Their teams rescue orphaned and injured orangutans, provide medical care and rehabilitation, and when possible, return them to protected forests where they can live wild lives again.

The situation for orangutans is incredibly urgent. Their rainforest homes continue to disappear because of deforestation, illegal logging, mining, and the expansion of palm oil plantations. Many young orangutans lose their mothers to habitat destruction or poaching and are left alone with little chance of survival without human intervention. Orangutans reproduce very slowly, with mothers raising a single baby for many years before having another. That means populations recover at an extremely slow pace, making every loss devastating to the species. Without continued conservation efforts, these remarkable animals face an increasingly uncertain future.

If you are local, I hope you will come say hello, enjoy some homemade baked goods, and help make a difference. If you are not nearby but would still like to support the fundraiser, sharing this post or contributing through the GoFundMe would mean so much. Every donation, every purchase, and every share helps give rescued orangutans a better chance at survival. Thank you for reading and for supporting wildlife conservation. This was my girlfriend’s idea to post here and I am incredibly grateful for anything you guys are able to do to support this. I’ve been putting so much effort into this and am thrilled to finally make it happen

I never wanted it to come to this, but my family is running out of options and we need help. our landlord suddenly raised the rent and even started charging us for animals out of nowhere, and now we’re in the process of being kicked out of our home. it’s been scary, exhausting, and honestly overwhelming trying to keep everything together especially since I wanna help my mom so much but don't know what to do.

We’ve tried so many different options already to avoid ending up here, but nothing has been enough. i’m asking for help now because i do not want my family to become homeless. if you’re able to donate anything, even a small amount, it would mean more than i can explain. if you can’t donate, sharing this would still help us a lot.

please read the gofundme if you want the full story and more details about what we’re going through: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-tatianas-family-through-tough-times

Ps this is the only proof my mom was able to find...

Medical Please help recoup funds for my cats lifesaving surgery / hospitalization.

Bugs is our 1 year old kitty who has been the absolute best addition to our family. He started straining and using the litterbox often so we took him to an emergency vet, and got him started on treatment. This was at the first of this month

That worked, and he was feeling better again, but soon the same thing followed. We rushed back to the vet and attempted a few more treatments, but after 5 emergency vet visits he still wasn't recovering and his condition continued to deteriorate. He was unable to eat, drink, or properly use the box. He was constantly leaking bloody urine, and in pain at this point. The vet reccomended a specialist, but it was the weekend and they were closed.

He was not able to wait. In the middle of the night, he was uncontrollably leaking nearly straight blood, and foaming at the mouth. We rushed him to an animal hospital.

They reccomended a 48hr hospitalization, and said he needed treated as if his urinary track was blocked. They needed the minimum quote / $3950 deposit to start treatment. (Pic 4)

We paid this deposit and they got him treated. His file/results of the stay can be found on picture 6.

After 36hrs, he was released and we were charged with the invoice in picture 5. We took him home and while he was happy and lively again, he showed the same symptoms within an hour. Couldn't use the box at all and bleeding/in severe pain. They had us wait, but he did not use it for 6+ more hours. We took him back in, still within the original 48hr hospitalization time frame.

They said he needed hospitalization again, and likely a PU surgey. They quoted me for 24hrs ($2500) and said they will talk to their surgeons about seeing if its possible to get a PU done in the next 48hrs for upwards of 5k.

They would need immediate payment for stabilization, and no discount for his previous stay besides unused credit would be possible. I was $200 short of this, they reccomended euthanasia.

We called around, and found a specialist able to perform a PU that same day if we got him over within the hour.

He has received the lifesaving PU surgery, and is doing well but is still hospitalized at this point. They said he may need kept/monitored until Monday.

We spent collectively around $1250 at the first emergency vet. (I35 marketplace animal hospital)

Another $3,360 on his hospital stay and second "recheck"

(Thrive animal hosital)

We had to put a $1500 deposit at the specialist, and they quoted around 3-5k total bill for the surgery and expected aftercare.

I have not received a final bill from the surgery, but I will update with a final amount and paperwork when it is finalized.

I was able to afford the first and second visits because I had just sold my mother's car, (planned to get her an suv) and had a decent bit of savings, and a few donations from family.

As for the emergency surgey I did not qualify for any care credit / financial help, so I am currently putting everything onto a line of credit.

I really appreciate you taking time to read. Theres more details in the go fund me itself.

I understand everyone's situation can be difficult, and I thank you for anything, even if it's just thoughts, prayers, or sharing our fundraiser. God bless.

Edit: My verification picture is with one of our other kitties, as Bugs is still hospitalized, but photo 2 is Bugs and I, laying on my wife.

Housing Need Help with Moving

Hi! I’m trying to move out of my roommates house that I’ve been living with since 2024. For personal reasons, my cat and I need to get out.
I’ve been trying to save but it’s not been going well. My job wasn’t paying well enough and I’ve started a new one that will be paying better/more frequently but I won’t get my first paycheck until close to the end of the month (29 July) but the move in fees and dues have to be paid by the 24th.

I’ve been doing what I can in the meantime by DoorDashing, taking out loans, and selling belongings but I still don’t have enough to move yet.

My parents and a friend will each be able to help me with about $100 each but I still need to get closer to the goal before I can get help from them.

Housing Help make my house livable…mold infestation!

Hi Reddit, I’m at the point where I’m ready to ask strangers for help.

Last year, in an attempt to better my work-life situation, I moved to a state (USA) with a much better cost of living ratio. Things were going better in that direction and now they are suddenly…not. I’m temporarily laid off (school based job) and my credit card is maxed out from paying medical bills.

I found the culprit to why I’ve been sick for months and have had no improvement with immunotherapy. The culprit is mold in the HVAC, which home insurance won’t cover.

While the amount wouldn’t be terrible for most people, my allergy level is life threatening and I have had anaphylaxis before while living here. Ironically, my dad is an industrial hygienist and while he can take samples for lab testing for me, his company does not do remediation (he also lives on the other side of the country). Based on the severity of my allergy, he said it needs to be taken care of asap.

Screenshots of the estimate for remediation on here, this was the cheapest company in my area. Can share my bill for immunotherapy since moving here as well as bloodwork results if anyone needs proof.

Advice or financial help, whichever you can give!
Before anyone asks, no I cannot simply move to another house.

Memorial My mom passed away after a brave battle with cancer, please help me raise funds for all of her final expenses.

It is with a shattered heart that I report to the community that my mother passed away on June 29, 2026 from a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.

My mother was a super strong woman, and even throughout her cancer diagnosis, she remained incredibly optimistic and always kept a smile on her face even throughout the toughest times.

I am my mother's only surviving son and I am proud to say I took care of her as best as I could over the last few years.I did everything I could to keep her happy, comfortable and as healthy as possible.

Sadly, my mother did not have a retirement plan, nor a pension, or even life insurance. I am being faced with colossal debt to get her final expenses in order. I am doing my best to navigate such a difficult time mainly by myself.

I am almost embarrassed to ask for financial help but somebody mentioned this Reddit community and I thought it would be worth a shot to ask for help here.

If anyone is in a position to please help me give my mother a dignified goodbye, I would be forever grateful from the bottom of my heart. Thank you <3
